Whats a good way to make money for charity in Africa?

I want to do something this summer in my neighborhood to raise money for africa. anybody have any ideas?

With each fund raising idea, you should let people know that you are doing this to raise money for Africa. People are always willing to donate or buy a little something if they know it is going for a good cause.

1. Do a search online for free fund raising ideas, there thousands of them, pick the ones you can do quickly. (see below)
2. Post a blog entry about it.
3. Join some community and fund raising forums and website and post your message there.
4. Email your friends with the information and ask them to forward the email to others.
5. Post flyers with the information on bulletin boards and other charity sites.
6. As for companies, it depends on the type of work you are doing. Go for the big ones first, like Nike, Coke, Pepsi, etc, send them letters and ask for sponsorship, sometimes these companies just send out checks to folks!
7. Then go to local companies, meet the owners face to face and explain your need and how it will benefit the local community.

Right now there is not much that can be done:

Egypt and Lybia are anti-american
Sudan and Somolia are in the middle of killing all non-islamist (including christian and animalists) via brutal torcher processes.
South Africa is about to have a major Race War when Mandela Dies.

There are several countries that are holding in there, but that whole continent is about to go up in flames.

Why cant you do something for the People here in the USA? Like raising money to get homeless out of shelters and into homes. Or how about getting people aware of all the non-priemium babies that don't have people to hold and love them because they are not the prefered geneticly perfect child.
I am sure that there are lots of things that you can do to help you community get better, such as helping every one to become disaster prepaired....


You don't have to look around the world to find some where where help is needed.

The ignorance of people never ceases to amaze me... Condoms is your solution, really? There are several huge problems with the African economy and them procreating isn't one of them. Have you ever stopped and wondered why a continent so rich in natural resources has such a low GDP? A combination of corrupt government and other countries taking advantage of them is the true problem. Many villages are forced to farm crops that have no benefit to them in regards to survival so it can be sold dirt cheap to other countries that have the ability to produce it into a sellable product and in turn make a huge profit. As far as continuing to donate your money to charities, I agree this isn't an effective method. Feed a child on a dollar a day, that's all fine and dandy till you stop giving that dollar. Then what? That's why the economy isn't improving. It does nothing to better their future. Instead invest your money on purchasing fair and direct trade products so you know the money you are donating is reaching the right people and creating a better future. They have to be able to better themselves and giving handouts isn't going to do that. Not to mention that even though most charities have good intentions, the corruption in many of the African countries prevents the money from reaching the people in need anyway.
