I think it is okay to have some ill feelings about a cat. The same thing just happened to my Daughter she was sitting down( she was not even playing with the cat) and a cat just attacked her and it was not just a normal scratch it bruised her and scratched her from the center of her back, shoulder, back of her head, top of her head, nose fore head and above her eye were she had to have stitches. I defiantly know how you felt. The same cat also attacked my dog a few days earlier. I was walking down the road and it just ran across the road and jumped on the dog and shredded his face. I was able to stop the bleeding, but that was pretty upsetting. Not as much as having to hold my six year old down while they stitched her eye. I think that the cat may not have been evil, but maybe a little crazy. If it has a brain it can go crazy. I think that your friends cat had gone crazy. The cat that attacked my daughter and dog was attacked by an animal a few weeks ago so they decided to have it put down and it is being tested for Rabies.

I was discussing this just the other day with my sister and my cousin. My cousin said that they can had mental problems like people but i said that they couldn't. I have read some of the answers and I don't know if i totally agree with them about cats reacting to how they have been treated in life. My sister got her cat as a young kitten. She was patted and treated well. She always likes attacking now. She has bitten my parents and has made them bleed. When she plays she likes attacking. I think she is just playing but my sister says she gets evil looks sometimes and my sister knows she is going to attack. My cat i got from the pound when she was nearly one. She must have been a stray for a while and treated poorly at the pound. When i saw her she wanted me to patted her. I tried through the cage as we are not allowed to open the cage. I fell in love with her and adopted her. She is the most gentle cat. She has been here since the end of last year and she has never even scratched me. She loves to lie on her back for me to pat her and when i do she puts her paw gently on the back of my hand without having her claws out. I can put my finger on her mouth and she will not bite. I think that the cat just enjoyed being rough. It may not have wanted to hurt you. Some cats just play rough.

The only naturally evil animals on Earth are humans. Unlike dogs, Cats are independent and do not have a pact mentality. They only express themselves to each other with minimal body language, mostly to ward off territorial intruders. For their physical size, they are quite strong, swift and capable of inflicting severe injury if cornered. People relate to dogs more because dogs seek to please the Alpha leader, which in their case is the human owner -- cats do not care to please anyone but themselves. Although cats do form close relationships with humans, you can never say you own a cat. Considering these few examples, humans have never really understood the cat, nor do most relate to feline personalities which remain a mystery, at best. Any evil a human perceives, is in their own minds -- not the cat

Cats can get psycho just like humans can. Most of the time there is some event that triggers the craziness. Sometimes it is just temporary and other times it is not, and in fact gets worse. I got a cat from a breeder half way across the country and she used air freight to get it to me. Apparently the cat carrier was dropped and the extreme noise of the airport put this cat over the edge, because she attacked me the first time she came out of the carrier. She had veterinary certificates for all her vaccinations and had been given a clean bill of health before she left her home. Not something I want to go through again. She was just "off her nut".

No, he wasn't evil, he was just misunderstood. When I adopted my oldest cat, he was super mean. He was only a kitten yet he would jump on people and bite them, just like what happened to you. There were times when I was so afraid of him, I would run and hide in a bedroom or bathroom, or protect myself with cushions. Everyone insisted that I give him up, but I knew if I did no one would love him. So I kept him, and for every bite, I responded with love, and more love. Now eight years later, he has turned out to be an amazing companion. He still has a temper, but is well under control. So like the Beatle's song says All he needed was love. And that's all your friend's cat needed.

The cat may have been abused, it may have had to fight littermates for milk, it may have had some mental defect like a mental illness and so on... Can you really hate another living creature for something beyond their control?
I'm sorry that happened to you and sorry that the kitty had a hard life. :(
Cats act on instinct, not reason and logic. It somehow perceived you as a threat.

The cat was reacting to it's treatment by humans-so since we can be extremely evil I would say that we could teach an innocent animal that behavior.

Sounds like the cat may have had a case of distemper. aserious illness. But treatable. I vet could have given it a shot for distemper.
