muscular/skeletal refers to your body system that the bones and muscles make up. Inflammation is ofcourse just swelling which is usually painful. It can be caused by many things, an injury, infection, even just over working the muscles. Usually treated with anti-inflamatories there are many on the market and several over the counter like ibuprophen. As said in other answers it is a very general term and usually not serious depending on the cause.

It is really a non-specific term that GPs use for general aches and pains. It represents no actual illness, being just a description of a symptom.
