I have read that there is a soft-ware Partition Manager. I thought it is a very simple thing. I like to know about this in detail.

partition manager is i believe a software? do i hit it? anyway, partition manager allows you to partition your hard drive, now here is the heart of your question, i'll talk in the most easiest way i can and i hope to convey the information to you. here i go

partition is the process of dividing your hard drive into parts say logical partitions take for an example an 80gb harddrive, you can divide it in chunks like 20gb/20gb/40gb or whatever you like, you can try to as far as 26 chunks, 26? yes twenty six. ok, now let say you did the partition of 20/202/40 you can then do a dual boot.

its main purpose was to enable a dual booting environment which means you can use 2 os in one hard disk. not just that, if you don't like dual booting, you can make the chunks act as storage.

you don't have to bother because the partition manager takes care of correcting the place / size you have indicated.

if you have further questions just let me now, i'll help you around. in the meantime, goodluck!!!

Your hard disk is partitioned into smaller parts (called partitions) in windows they're like C , D , E... etc
Partition Managers are applications that allow you to create, delete or modify these partitions. Advanced Partition Managers (like Partition Magic) provides more options like resizing partitions.
Each partition has a File System. This is how the files on that partition can be read. so when using Third Party Partition Managers make sure you format partitions with a File System that your Operating System can read. (in windows you use FAT32 and NTFS usually)

About it being simple!!! It depends. If you mean developing such applications they need experience with hardware because it's critical.
Using such software is usually simple. However, it's dangerous. Because with one click you may lose GigaBytes of data.
That's why when using Partition Managers you will see a warning with every click to confirm what you've done.

Your hard disk comes up with a lot of storage space, so you may wish to distribute it into manageble portions. These separate portions on one drive are called Partitions.

Creating a partition means creating logical drives out of one physical drive. So you can have an 80GB C: drive and you can create 4 partitions of 20 GB each. Each of these partitions will be treated as a separate drive by the operating system.

Partition Manager is a software which lets a user manage these partitions easily. It provides funcationalities to create, delete, format and modify partition spaces.
