As with most surgeries, your major risk factors will be with the general anesthesia but rather than seeking advice about this from people who want to 'play doctor', you need to consult with a specialist trained in this particular field of Medicine. I'm sure if you don't know of one, your Family doctor will be happy to refer you to a reputable ENT. In the mean time, you can read up on tympanoplasty, the surgical procedure used to repair or reconstruct the eardrum, at these sites. That way you can be some what informed when you do go for a consult.
