is there anything in it that could make me sick in anyway (besides the alcohol)? could i eat the worms?
it is in a sealed bottle that i bought in a market, very commerical looking.
i dont want to do anything dangerous!

It is safe, well at least as safe as any other tequila. The worms are suppossed to consume the impurities in the tequila, and the alcohol kills the worm.

TEQUILA: Actually tequila made with the maguey (Mag-E) worms is usually called mescal. Moer or less it's the same product and it is safe to drink. In more rural parts of Mexico the worms are eaten reguarly as part of a meal and are not harmful. They live under the agave (a-gave-ay) plant where tequila is made from. Tequila is 40% alchol by volume so if there were any germs/bacteria present they would beek killed by the alchol. You should be fine,but start by having a small sip,Not a shot.

The worms were pickled and disinfected by the alcohol. It was a fluke that you got two in the bottle. I think I would consider that lucky and save the bottle or you might make some money if you want to sell it on Ebay. There is one for your "Show me state"-find out what it is worth to others. As for eating the worms, well, the idea is to drink them but if you want to eat them, they are going the same place and the same destiny so it won't matter as long as you are not allergic to worms. People eat alot bugs anyway, some knowingly as part of 3rd world staples or delicacies, and some unknowingly, so the choice is yours I guess.

Well it depends..did you get it from a legitimate liquor store or did you get it from someone on the street? If you did get it legitimately then drink up! High quality tequila sometimes has a worm in it because of the way it is distilled and worms that eat the plant that tequila is made from are sometimes distilled along with the tequila. (ha-ha funny but true). In this case it is completely safe to drink the tequila and swallow the worm...I wouldn't chew it but it will get you more intoxicated. If you didn't get it from a legitimate liquor store then I wouldn't drink it. Some people do put worms in cheap liquor to make some people think that it is of high quality, as the worm only appears in high quality tequila. It isn't dangerous per say...it'll make you really really really sick.

The worms are meant to be eaten. The only way you'll get sick is if you go through the whole bottle in one sitting in order to get to the worm.

The alcohol will/should kill the germs don't get alcohol poisoning! as for eating the worms that too gross for me!

your safe the tequila itself has killed any bacteria . Good luck and yes if you wish eat the worms .

It is certainly safe to drink, and the worms are to be eaten. they are best part. this is a very good drink.
