The reason why I'm asking this is because I actually believe that most teenagers indocrtinated under the Christian faith might in some extreme cases might use God as a reason to blame for their problems and as a result become even more suicidal. Inside, most of these teens, are angry, confused of what and why they're here and are distraught with so much bottled emotions over their conditioning in life. Depression is a battle no one is asking for and neither are the limited options that are available for a person to vent their problems. I'm interested to see how religion is related the developmental growth of mental health

Sure, it's a sign of depression. And it's sad. God wouldn't want us to kill ourselves for Him. I just re-read your question, and I realize I should've read it better last night when I went to answer it. People are often tempted to blame God for the hardships of life, me included. Do I think that children indoctrinated under the Christian faith then think that they should commit suicide if hardships befall them, no! Absolutely not. Most know that hardships are part of reality. But there are things to learn in every hardship. Jesus said, "In this world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome it." Jesus overcame the world not by His death, but learning how to live with God's help. The bible says "yet learned he obedience from the things He suffered". Every christian knows that life is full of sorrows. But he/she also know there are great avenues for joy, and there are "seasons" of your life for both. And God will help with getting past the hard times. If a person is struggling with faith because they are suffering a lot, my hope is that child will contact a pastor, a councelor, family members or a trusted friend. Because religion doesn't make christian kids want to kill themselves. But misunderstanding who God is and why there is suffering in the world can. So hopefully, children will be always asking to get help for themselves, not trying to face life alone.

I am 14 years old. Im bipolar, manic, and suicidal often. God is frankly the only thing that keeps me from it much of the time. Being Catholic, I kind of fell from my fresh start of the religion a year ago. I began lying and stealing again slowly, and 1/10 nights I dont pray before I sleep, which used to be an old ritulal of mine. But for some reason I still believe in the religion enough not to slit my wrists. Take it from my personal experience that those threatening to kill themselves for God are merely trying to convince themselves that if it is done *for* God it will save them eternal damnation. I once tried tricking myself that but I just couldnt believe it, so trust me, they just need to understand fully they are deceiving themselves, through either their own thoughts and feelings, or possible implanted ones by an evil force such as Satan intent on drawing them from the path of God in the only way hard to absolve yourself of. If you kill someone, you may at one point truly realize it was wrong and repent, but if you kill yourself, it is often too late to repent. Pray for them to not stray from the Lords path. He will keep them safe and guide them rightly if you merely show them where to go, and purge the thoguhts they are having from them.

Best of luck, and God be with those you are asking to help.

God doesn't accept suicides so either it is a sign of stupidity or a poor misinformed soul that needs guidance.& yes depression can cause suicidal thoughts, but killing yourself FOR God?Sounds like a retarted person of a certain faith we are trying to relieve the world of right now!

I would say it's a sign of misinterpreting Bible scripture. God doesn't want people to die for Him. He wants people to LIVE for Him.

Yes. God does not want anyone to kill themselves. He loves all. If you are speaking of yourself or someone you know, please get some help.
