I remember as a younger teen I had this feeling of giving up on life and religion for me was a great way to cope with these problems albeit temporarily.

Shame on them! It's always easier to blame blame an external source for your problems that accept responsiblity for your choices and the consequences thereof.

I don't know about depressed people in general, but often people who have some kind of problem in their life always blame it on their god, using it as a scapegoat to avoid blaming the real person who is at fault for the trouble they are going through - themselves. Most people don't realise that it is quite simple to get yourself of things if you stop looking for people to blame (in this case being depressed and miserable with how things work out) and actually work on improving it.

The d!ckhead above- Toltec - who believes depression comes as a result of choices is talking sh!t. Unfortunately depression happens naturally to some people and it has nothing to do with any choices one makes.

I'm chronically depressed, and I don't blame Jesus. The very idea is foolish.
He SAVED me! Why would I want to blame Him for anything?
When I say He saved me, I mean He saved me from the penalty of sin, which is hell for eternity. He took my punishment at Calvary. Yours, too. You need to have the faith to trust Him to intercede for you when you stand before God on judgment day.

I have depression and I don't blame jesus. I blame chemicals in the body and hormones that occasionally screw up.

well God is Good and when you are depressed or feel alone. misery loves company that is when the devil comes and tries to be your backstabbing friend. When God is really the answer you want to part of it. self pitty, got to vent, get anger out on someone. are all factors not wanting God.
