Coming from a freeloading hippie, no, it does not.
I find that the food I pay for tastes much better than the food that I do not pay for. Why? Here is my reasoning:
1) The food might come from behind a grocery store (dumped food). This food isn't exactly as fresh as you'd like it to be. Grocery stores waste food all the time... and you never quite realize it. Where do all of those slightly bruised pears go when a less bruised shipment comes in? Out the back door. Free food.
2) Oops. I "forgot my wallet." Free food... for the price of friendship.
3) The food that I am given for free from friendly tax payers like all of you, and yes, including me, are donated from grocery stores. They give us the stuff no one will buy. Food brands whose companies have long since gone under, but the cans have not yet expired. Not being picky-choosy or anything, but it certainly isn't the best.
4) Begging on corners for free food? Guilt. Because there is some kid starving in Africa still wishing he had even the chance to beg on a street corner in AMERICA. Moreover, Los Angeles on Hollywood and Vine. [You'll know where to find me then... ;-) ]
And, lastly...
5) The food I'm given by friends or family... even I as a freeloader must say it just doesn't taste quite as good as the food I paid for with my hard-earned money. I appreciate every bite just that much more.

Well, I agree that it tastes best when someone else prepares it for you. I don't know if it tastes better when its free, but I sure do appreciate it more.

free samples at Sams club or the grocery store is always fun
but fresh food is the best, it is always nice if if come from an old friend or a new friend.
free food either comes from your parents or people that want something. unless you have a gift card.

Why do you want "fat-free" food? Healthy fat is essential. People in this country got fatter when they stopped eating butter, drinking whole (non-homogenized) milk and cut back on meats. Read the book Eat Fat, Lose fat. You get fat from the carbs, not the fats! There are bad fats, however, those are hydrogenated fats, and canola oil (very bad).

There is no such thing as free food. Somebody paid for it. I prefer to pay for my own food, thank you very much.
