Although not generally political....but a conservative never the less, I too think that we are going through what we are going through because "reason" is no longer what runs our government. It is corrupt in all ways and Mr. Gore makes some very good points about what we are doing to our world. (He was interviewed on Good Morning America yesterday and today).

Actually, my reaction is that he's rather late to the party. He doesn't say anything that Amy Goodman, David Barsamian, Robert Fisk, Greg Palast and a host of others haven't been saying for years. I assume "An Inconvenient Truth" was his atonement for his and Bill's screwing up the Kyoto accord with "carbon credit trading". What is to say he isn't in standard politician mode right now, saying what the people already know, to gauge his electability? Will he next come out with a book explaining why the NAFTA globalization race to the bottom of the wage scale started on his watch? Sorry to be so harsh but, accuracy notwithstanding, there is an unmistakable odor of grandstanding about him.
Still, he would have been better than what we got.

Thanks for the info! I did not know he had a new book out, but I bet it will be a good read! (Probably facing as much controversy as "An Inconvenient Truth")!!
And I beg to differ that Georgie is challenged by reading Hop on Pop... Didn't you hear that Laura reads to him??... I guess that's why she's in charge of the the literacy campaign... They do say charity begins at home... : )
(Oh, the can of worms you opened for me - I'm just cracking myself up now!)

Despite my complete disagreement with him on global warming (in my household, we call it climate change), Al Gore was the last politician I truly believed in.
He's also the only politician I know who understands the internet and how to handle laws regarding it. (By the way, the guy never said he invented the internet. He said he created it, and he meant for regular government use. Check out Wired magazine for the original interview.)
I hope the guy runs again in the future.

Al Gore is an intelligent man. Bush, on the other hand, had his head kicked by a donkey when his mom neglected him

The electoral process is flawed. I say we should have a direct election.

LOL! I think that his whole persona is an assault on reason. He is living proof that mental asylums still need to be subsidized!
