If mountain climbers need oxygen tanks to climb Mount Everest, how were Noah, his family, and the animals able to breath on the Ark when they were above the mountains?

The story is fiction. No such flood ever occurred.

I agree, the air pressure would be the same as the air was simply pushed a little higher up. The density would be the same. But where did all that water come from and where did it go? The ice at the north and south pole can't produce that much water. Remember ice is less dense as water. So if you melt ice you get less water by volume. The mountains have been the way they have been for millions of years. The best possible scenario, the local mountains were flood when an earthquake in Antarctica or ice shelf in Antarctica fell into the ocean. They got the results of a huge tidal wave. The story just got larger as time went on. Noah short on oxygen does answer a lot of questions. He was the last person to pass on the knowledge before him. It explains everything. How god made the heaven and earth... and six days...original sin...Adam and Eve... Noah suffered brain damage from the lack of oxygen. Better still, where did they get all the water for the animals? I mean really, the outside water was salt water, undrinkable. If there is even one lie in the bible, it taints the entire bible as fiction.

Mount Ararat where the ark came to a rest is 17,000 feet. Mount Everest's height is 29,028 feet! That's substantially higher than the size of Mount Ararat. As to whether or not Noah, his family and the animals had any trouble breathing when the ark came to a rest, that's not recorded. Mount Rainier comes much closer to it in elevation, it is 14,410 feet. You can climb that mountain with paced breathing. As to where on the mountain exactly the ark landed, that's unclear. The Bible says at the top, but my conjecture is that is as opposed to "at the base" of the mountain, or "midway down the mountain". Wherever the ark landed, it would need to have a wide enough land base for the ark to not only come to a rest but for people and animals to disembark. So that doesn't mean necessarily at the pinnacle. If you want to look at the evidence, check out National Geographic's website link I've pasted below. As to how high up they were and what the weather was like after the rains, and how long Noah stayed at that altitude, that's another question entirely. But the bible does record that he gave an offering to God of every clean animal on the ark when they landed. So again, they had to have room on the plateau to move and live and offer this sacrifice. I hope you enjoy the National Geographic article. God bless you! By the way, the reason why I say that they weren't necessarily at the pinnacle of the mountain, but on the top portion as opposed to the bottom is because they needed to be only as high up as where the water had receded already. The National Geographic article shows the ark has been found at approximately an elevation of 15,500 feet, not at the pinnacle.

There might be Noah and the ark, but whether the Ark did go that high can be another issue, remember the history records might have been altered from time to time.

Things like Archimedes' solar weapon myth have been busted. The 'burning ship' part was told 300 years after the battle. According to the testimorny of the soldiers who participated in the battle, no burning ships were sighted.

If the water can rise that high, then we might have to consider about where it goes.

The question falsely presumes that a mountain as tall as Everest was in existence during the flood, without bothering to consider that such a mountain may have instead been a result of the catastrophe itself. The point is that such ideas are obscure and thus open for speculation.

The ancient people who came up with this story believed that the World was within about a 500 mile radius. Therefore in their minds it was easy to gather 2 of every living thing that they thought existed. Since mankind has become more intelligent we now know that 2 of every species of living things on this planet weighs about 100 million tons and Noah would have needed an Arc a few miles long. This story is obviously not the word of any God but religious people are told to believe that it is. It's amazing what religion gets away with.

Possible explanations:

1. World climate has changed alot over the millenia.
2. Noah and family where in a region with a lower altitude, they would not have needed oxygen anyway.

They held their breath. It was only 40 days

Hypothetically, in that situation they would be at sea level so the air wouldn't have been thin.

However, as you know, the Ark story is total BS and there isn't a shred of evidence to support it.

There are better points to discredit the myth.

Just as God had supplied everything they needed up to that point. It goes without saying that He was still in the providing business. May God Bless U.

not ALL mountains are so high that you need a supply of oxygen... You can go driving thru the Rockies without an oxygen tank.

people can climb everest without oxygen. this one guy did it several times, besides, along with the water rising, the atmosphere would also be pushed up.
