Speaking from experience here, listen to your mom on this one. When I was 11, I just HAD to have my waist-length hair cut and nothing would dissuade me. After weeks of badgering, mom finally got the scissors out and chopped it off to just below my shoulder blades. I'd wanted it above my shoulders, but after the novelty of my newly short hair wore off, I took a long look in the mirror and THANKED her for not listening to me. My hair is now the same length as yours, and I have no intention of doing that again.
However, that aside, you are not me, and if you feel you must cut your hair then do it gradually. Believe me, you've had long hair all your life and a sudden shortening is going to be a tremendous shock anyway. Ask for it to be done gradually. You get split end trims, right? Get a little extra cut off next time, and if you don't feel traumatized, get a little more until your hair is the desired length. I doubt you'll persuade your mom to let you get some wild-looking hair cut, though, but she might agree to short layers or a bob.

Im 12 and I used to have long hair until my waist too . But my mum begged me to cut it instead of promising not to . You should try to convince her to cut it a couple of inches , and see how you like it . Also tell her that its not healthy , because then your hair would have split ends and it might end up splitting all the way up , causing all your hair to drop . Dont cut it too drastic though , or you'll regret it , just like me . Everyday I would try everything to make my hair grow out , hahah .

My parents wouldn't allow me to cut my hair either while growing up. The best thing to do is enjoy long hair and being different. Long hair is easier to style and you can do much more with it than shorter hair. Don't upset your parents by going against their wishes. When you turn 18, if you still hate it, get it cut into a trendy style.

Your mom would freak if you got the 2nd one down. Try to compromise, ask to get it cut to your elbows then maybe your shoulder's. I don't know how strict your mom is but if you ease her into it, in a year or two you'll have more control over your hair.

um... never a really good idea, but it would get her attention! try cutting it yourself!! (dont really attempt unless last reort) I dont want you to get in trouble or hurt yourself, but if you cut off a little bit, maybe she will see how serious about cutting your hair you are, and then take you somewhere to finish it??? but DO NOT DO IT UPON MY SUGGESTION!!!! a few people I know have done it, hair grows back though, remember that!! Talk to her, make her understand with a good argument that that is what you wnt to do with your hair!

as a father, I can understand your mom's stance. You're her little girl and she wants you to stay that way. The problem is you're growing up and want that to reflect in your "look". Just try a compromise, going shorter over time, say every time it's time for a "trim" see if she'll let you go short and shorter. Over time you can add layers.
She'll warm up, just give her a reason to "trust" your decision for it.

i know you may not like it now, but long hair is extremely nice in my opinion, and you'll regret cutting it.
