Tattoos can either be a great form of personal expression, or be a mistake that can last a long time. I suggest if you are considering a tattoo to
1) Be certain of what you want, don't flip flop. I was once told by a musician to wait a year. If you still want the (same) tattoo after all that time, most likely you will be happy with it for the rest of your life. I don't know how true that exact statement may be, but the basic jist rings true. Don't just get a tattoo on a whim, or even worse, a drunken whim.
2) Be sure to go to a reputable (and clean of course) parlor. Most now a days are great, but there are some to steer clear of. If you have any friends with tattoos, ask them how they decided it was right for them and who they recommend.
Worst case? You get it laser surgery down the road to remove it. It may be costly (or not by then, who knows), but it is an option.
Good luck!!

I am not a fan of tattoos. You have to be 100% sure you can live with one. I always looks good on others but it is a different story when it is on you forever. I know a lot of people who made the mistake to have a tattoo when they were young, now they are trying everything to take it away - expensive and painful mistake!

I believe that tattoos can change the way ppl view you, specially if you want to be a professional one day like a Lawyer or a Doctor for instance i think it will really change how ppl look at you, then again it depends...

Depends. A lot of people love 'em. Other wish they hadn't gotten theirs.
Remember: Tattoos are for life. Even if you get it "removed", the damaged skin will still be there as a reminder.

the funny thing about tattoos is that only real rebels used to have them, now even my fiances Nerdy cousin has one, not so bad *** anymore to have a TAT. Its like even more of a statement not to get one. Personally i do not have one, i keep telling myself, if i want one, go to the tattoo parlor, pickone out and get it in 2 months, thats how i'll know i really want it.
good luck.
