Yes I did, the first time with the cancer in the leg and recently with the stroke, I realised that life is important and to take care of yourself, and thank all your friends and family for all the good and bad times.

I had one very similar to yours just a couple of months ago.
No, I didn't pray--I researched all the things it could possibly be, what the chances are that it was a)cancer, b)tuberculosis, c) something else that was serious but treatable, or d) nothing to worry about. Based on my research I figured the odds were good that I had a condition called sarcoidosis, which is painful, unpleasant, but rarely dangerous.
Turns out I was 100% correct in my diagnosis, and I know what to expect and how to ease the worst of the symptoms. (my scar still itches like crazy sometimes though).
Rather than pestering God with prayers, I took responsibility for my condition and DID something about it.
(my wife, who is Catholic, prayed constantly--for which I love her dearly--and those prayers gave her comfort while I was under the knife. However even she was realistic enough to praise the DOCTOR when it was all over)

Indeed I have had such a time.
I had a gastroplasty that went bad until I was starving down to 80 pounds and it was not getting better. I had already begun a will I was so frightened. But, now, very little scares me because I have faced some pretty serious stuff.
Finally a surgeon realized it was not anorexia nervosa and opened me up and fixed the problem I told him I had. Other than that, no other scares.
Alhamdulillah.

yes I have had a biopsy.......... the outcome.......... breast cancer. The doctor said I would have to have surgery and to prepare myself mentally.
I felt so totally scared but I would not give up and I prayed for Allah (God) to let me live to raise my children whose ages at the time were 2,4, and 5.
I put my total trust in Allah (God) and 1 week before my surgery I was totally and completely healed and the cancer has never returned...... my children are now 19,18, and 16.
Allah is Great and I will always put my total trust in Allah

I had a biopsy done on my cervix because they found a growth there. Turned out to be not cancerous, but it was scary. The biopsy itself was also intensely painful, but I had it done in South Korea so their medical procedures were different there.

My mother just died of metastatic recurrent breast cancer in April. I went through this time with her and in Feburary discovered a lump in my breast. Because my mother had breast cancer twice, and my sister died of ovarian cancer, I am a high risk. Yes, I was very scared. More than I have ever been. My tests turned out okay, even though I still am in pain. I know my time is coming, like it does for us all. I just hope I am very old, but will have to face whatever comes.

i have a family history of breast and cervical cancer in my family going back two generations so i know i have a bullet with my name on it most likely...i have all ready been tested and show signs of dysplasia which is precancer really....so it crosses my mind alot that life is short and i need to get my ducks in a row right now and not some distant time in the future.
i find it strange that when you are diagnosed with cancer or some such thing...people just think one thing..."i'm going to die"....forgetting that we are dying the moment we are born. even though death is a natural part of life nobody wants to think about it...but its got to be the most important thing that will ever happen to us outside of being born cause once you die theres no going back so to speak....whatever you did on earth cant be undone and you cant add or deduct anything from it....
dont let death or even the possibility of it scare you....if you know your life is lived as close to God's will as possible for you then death just brings you closer to him...and he's waiting on the otherside.
