my friend just had this happen to his dog (the dad had sex with his daughter) and she got pregnant. (the are chihuahuas, or however u spell it).. anyway the daughter (now mother) just gave birth to 4 very cute and healthy pups

so.. i dont think anything happens.. the vet said that this happens all the time with dogs and the only way the pups would have problems is if the dogs were from the same litter (brother and sister)

hope that helped
good luck!

Inbred animals have a much greater chance of sharing the same genes...good *and* bad. Many genetic disorders are carried recessively. They're 'hidden' until a dog gets two copies of it (one from dad and one from mom). IOW, the bad genes they carry in common (but you don't see), will show in the puppies.

Edit: Adding links...

Another edit: Those Chihuahua puppies mentioned are still young, too early to tell if they're ok or not. Many disorders develop later in life. It ALL depends on the genetics they have and carry, which is why breeders need to understand at least the basics of genetics and know the dogs bloodlines...even more so when inbreeding. Some people think those who insist breeding be left to the experts are snobs and such, but it's not about that...you really need to know what you're doing. It's not luck, it's genetics.

as long as a father was not the product of the same kind of incest. Usually just one imbread event wont lead to deformation. with dogs, the genetic diverisity is so large that there would have to be more then one incest litters to cause deformation. This is also why most breeders have multiple females to increase genetics in there pups and prevent deformation and sickness.

VERY BAD, there is a high possibly they could be deformed. In fact there was a recent case were a litter of Chihuahua puppies were born WITHOUT FRONT LEGS!! It's just no healthy for the dogs.

not good your suppose to watch your females when they go into heat especially if you have a dog thats related to her these first dogs might come out ok but the might have mental problems but you could get some that are deformed

Yes, of course the male would try to mate with the female, they don't know it's their pup. It would be a bad idea, you need a bigger gene pool to prevent genetic defects. You do not want a dog that inbred.

The puppys would be inbred, they would have more health problems, most likely not deformed, most purebreed dogs are inbred through cuzins that why they have such health problems more than mutts

I know a dog across the street that is literally retarded because of this type of inbreeding. I also saw three puppies on a news web site recently that were inbred and they are all missing their front legs! PLEASE don't inbreed. There is a very high chance they will have serious problems.

I don't know about dogs, but I've seen cats and no problems noticed, but I'm sure if it kept happening problems would become apparent as there's much evidence to support it.

They do that. Nothing will be wrong with the pups - it happen with my dogs (I fix the female after that) the pup was normal in every way nothing wrong with them
