Dandruff in small amounts is normal.
Some tips to alleviate it:
1)Feed a high quality food like Eukanuba or Nutro. Low quality food is the number one reason why dogs will have a poor hair coat and dandruff.

2)Bathe him with a colloidal oatmeal shampoo. Soothes the skin. Just don't bathe him too often, that can wash away important oils in the dogs skin which will then cause dandruff.

3)Add some supplements: Vitamin E and fish oils. Usually you can find dermatologic (or skin) capsules at your local pet store or veterinarian.

4) If he starts losing hair anywhere or gain weight, take him to you vet as this can be a sign of something more serious.

Most likely though, he just has dry skin.

My dog had this, a black lab mix. She had it too, but after a while, and many baths later, she started losing hair. Take him to the vet. Chances are it is allergies. I honestly wouldn't put anything on any of my dogs unless I knew it was safe. The vet gave me a few pills ( like doggie ibprofen ), and special shampoo and conditioner. I highly suggest a visit to the vet, yes, its more expensive than a drop of vinegar, but it's worth it.

Salmon oil will definitely work - cod oil too - try changing the shampoo and it could also be the diet - consult ur vetinarian if you can - certain dogs do do not do well with certain types of dog foods, they will shed excessively and even have dandruff buildup. Any signs of this should most likely be the diet of the dog. Esbilac mixed into dog food is also good for the dog and nutritional too. I feed all my dogs Nutro, none of them have any problems, good soft coat. My friend decided to switch his dog to beneful and immediately his dog shed like crazy and no longer looks like the beautiful dog she once was. He is now switching her back to her original diet and there are improvements.

No. It burns.

Use Tomlyn Medicated Dandruff Shampoo. It has sulfur and coal tar in it, but it works very well.

They sell it at http://www.petedge.com You can order it online and get a fast shipment on it.

yuck, vinegar will just make him stinky. Try fish oil vitamins (like samon oil) and just give it to him or pop open on his food, they're completely safe and you can find some at the pet stores usually

ask your vet...if you had something wrong with you..you would ask your doctor, right? it should be just as important with your pet.
