well, after you make sure that your car is mechanically sound, you dont have to get a high flow intake, a cat back exhaust system, under drive pullie ,headers ,and a ecu chip since you said you wont be racing it. if you want more power then go for it but if you dont want to race it then i say dont bother. im spending most (ok ok, i am a true 300ZX owner so i must say ALL of my money) on my cosmetic work. I am getting a new front bumper, and i am repainting the whole car, new seats, wheels, and then some. and the type of wheels is up to you. everyone has a different oppionion on wheels, its up to you.

If there is no proof (reciept) of the timing belt being changed, that should be your first priority. You don't want that belt to fail. After that, drive the car for a bit and take care of any maintenance problems you might find, then you can start playing with the car.

Both cars are completely different. If you want a nice, reliable, cheap on maintenance car, then the Accord is a winner. The 300ZX N/A is a pain to fix when it breaks down and is for more suited for someone who knows how to fix cars and you better have some extra cash saved for those times when it does decide to break down on you. The 300ZX will break more necks than the Accord but the Accord will definitely last longer and break down less than a 20 year old 300ZX. If you do choose to get a 300ZX, get a 94+ as the injectors are less prone to break down.

Right away change all the fluids and filters thay way you know they all have been done. Read the owners hand book please get one if it is missing. Fix up all the worn parts first before you start in with wheels and tires. And because this is a sports GT car you will want to know how it drives at speed I reccomend joining your local Z car club. Taking a Drivers Edge or other RaceTrack course learn what you can do with your car..
