OK I understand that you do not believe in God and that is fine. Each to their own and we should respect that (and most do) so ok why do always have something bad to say to the people who do believe? Does it bother you that bad that people have differant opinions when you dare us to think or say anything against yours? And whats up with the constant insults to all the religions 24/7?

I know that when I do not believe nor care about something I do not open my mouth about it bc I DO NOT CARE? Hmm makes you wonder right?

i believe judging is bad as well. I never called anyone a sinner. I am Muslim and I agree that all laws are not for everyone esp. when we live in a land (USA) that does seperate church from state.

Look... many of us what what you just voiced: Being able to beleive in what feels right to us, and being left alone. But you think Atheists are bad?

We don't knock door to door, littering your property with pamphlets and trying to convert you.

We don't hold book and record burnings. By this same tokken, we don't ban movies, music, or literature from the mainstream. We like to have freedom to choose what we partake in. And by the way, you'd be surprised how considerate we can be about it, hurting no one.

We don't try to withold education to match our beleifs. We want our children to learn to think--not be told what to think.

Never once in the history of Atheism have we burned a woman at the stake for witchcraft... or for any other purpose to my recollection.

Never once in the history of Atheism have we declared a holy war and killed millions of people "in the name of God." Strangely, many Atheists have died in such conflicts.

We don't wish to take away your right to speak about God. However, freedom of speech means that we don't have to agree with you--and can voice out differing opinions if the need so strikes us. Just like you. Plus, many people use religion as an excuse to do outrageous things or say some arrogant (and ignorant) stuff. Anyone who feels a duty as a human being can--and will--speak out against that.

Like cosmo says!!

I'm an atheist, I'm married have 2 kids, my wife is a christian, my kids are christians, i was a christian.
I've really no axe to grind, it maybe that I've just lost my faith, it maybe that there'll be a flash of light and all will be revealed. However, its not been today, it wasn't yesterday, it didn't happen in Iraq, it didn't happen in the Balkans, and it didn't happen in the Falklands and amazingly where it really failed dismally was in Northern Ireland.

I suppose the reason that Christianity is all down to the fact that in the western world Christianity is the main religion, when theres a knock at the door what are the chances of it being Hari Krishna come visiting or a Hindu?

Most people are sensible, and your taking offence at the odd one like the above mentioned who is just being contentious because he's 15 and no one knows who he is in real life.
You on the other hand start of in a reasonable manner then cast my lot with cosmo.

If you didn't care you'd have remained silent, I don't care what anyone says, apart from

Don't put me in the same boat as cosmos, i'd be likely to do something wrong.

Thank you
And may your God go with you

I'm agnostic, so I try to be open minded about everything. I wish Thiests and Athiests would be more open-minded and stop bashing everybody's belief or non-belief. I think the only thing that bothers me about religion is when people only tell potential converts of the positive things about their religion and don't tell them about the rest of the "stuff" until they have joined/made commitments to that religious organization. LDS/Mormons are excellent examples of that, their policy is "milk before the meat" meaning they tell potential converts the stuff they think the converts can handle and wait until much later on to tell them about the heavier doctrine and darker spots on what they claim to be a clean history. If it hadn't been for somebody not minding their own business, I might not have ever seen it for what it truly was, I would have been wasting my life away on meaningless callings, paying the church 10% of my paycheck, etc. So in that respect, I think that if someone has knowledge (not just opinion) on a religion/church/sect that might open up someone's eyes, there is nothing wrong with that.

Hello! Are you new around here? maybe you should start by looking through some of the past questions that have asked here in Religion & Spirituality. Its not even close. By far, most of the people who come on here with something "bad to say" about someone else's beliefs are Christians. Just because an Atheist or Agnostic is confident and comfortable with his or her beliefs, does not mean they are saying anything negitive about Christions. I don't mean anything personable when I say that Christions(like most other religons) have it all wrong. It took many years for the myths and stories that form Chritianiy to become ingrained into civilazation. It's going to take many years to make it go away.

That's a very good point. I respect their religion, and they usually call ours fairy tales. But I got to say, not all atheists are like that. Just keep faith in yourself and don't worry about others, for everybody.

P.S. - I'm not Christian.(: People who beleive in their faith are not sinners, and the atheists do have some good points, not only against Christians but for every other single religion. People do pass laws, like gay maraige but some people has to learn to respect that not all countries has what the United States does, because here in the United States is different. We have freedom of religion and beleif.

I here take part in the Islamic community, I don't hate any beleif whatsover and respect all, I don't judge by anything, especially religion.

Actually, I never bring up religion to my friends. They are all very moderate, and use the teachings of peace from the Bible to improve their lives and discard the rest. Not a single one that I am aware of lends any credence to any literal interpretation. I am happy it makes them happy.

Here however, and other places online, I am outspoken about it because religion has the power to effect my life, through politics. The world right now is a mess, and I believe it is mostly the fault of the three big religions fighting for dominance and anticipating the end of times. It's frightening that religious belief could effect and shape the world in such a negative way. The guy with his finger on the button could actually believe he plays a part in Armageddon, and is gleeful about it. That is not something anyone should remain passive about. That is why I speak out against religious extremism (which to me is any literal interpretation of a religious text, regardless of the religion in question.)

Not all of us insult religious people. But sometimes, I get tired of always being told I'm going to hell if I don't believe and that I'm a worthless person for not believing or being flipped off because of the "science" on my car (and I was even mooned once THEN flipped off).

Sometimes, I can't help but give as good as I get. What goes around, comes around.

I generally don't care if someone believes or doesn't, as long as they don't try to force what they DO believe down my throat OR pass laws based on their beliefs. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself and we'll be fine.

I just love these questions: for the atheists?
What do you mean by bad, is that like sin or evil?
We atheists do care. We care that there is a long history of Christian persecution, torture and murder of the non believer. We care that Galileo was threatened with torture and death because he said the earth was not the center of the universe.
Christians are too easily offended when their faith is described as irrational, illogical and not supported by scientific data. It's reality but Christians are offended.
We do care that a bunch of really stupid people might be watching the Pat Robertson show and be convinced that we should murder an elected president and steal the country's oil. We atheists do care about really dangerously stupid people.

So what is the question. I try not to insult. It doesn't bother me that you have different opinions, as long as you respect the fact that I do. And what's wrong with daring you to think? Isn't that a good thing? True we do not believe in god, but we do care what other people think because it's how they judge us. And judge us wrongly.

It doesn't bother me that people think differently than I do. I think the world would be a boring place if everyone thought alike.

However, I do not like certain religions (and yes I reason you are Muslim so this may or may not apply to you) legislating their idea of morality onto the rest of us and trying to force their creation myths into science class rooms.
