I was once a big Ricky Rudd fan, and then he retired so I picked some younger drivers to pull for, Hamlin and Edwards mainly. I still like Rudd and hope he will win at least one race this year. It just seems like these Ford Fusions aren't nearly as good as the Taurus, so he may have a hard time. You can bet that if he's racing Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, or either of the Busch boys for a win, I'll be a big Ricky Rudd fan again. He was actually in the #10 Tide Ford. The #32 Tide Ford/Pontiac/Chevrolet didn't exist until Ricky Carven took it over and Rudd raced the #28 Texaco Ford for Yates.

Huge Rudd fan here!! :-) Robert is making some serious changes and additions to the team, and they will be turning a corner soon. Hopefully, the Rooster will get a win sometime this season!
BTW...Ricky NEVER retired. He simply said he was taking a year off.

i was a fan of his back when he drove the tide ride... and mainly i liked him because he was an owner driver tryin to make it in the days before all the big teams were big..i also dont see why he went back to yates other than the fact that all of the teams with real chances of winning and contending everyweek wouldnt have signed an past his prime driver.. the only changes i see yates making or trying to recover are the ones where he is trying to find anyone to hock his teams to.. i dont think we will see yates in victory lane until he merges or sales to someone else.. as bad as i hate to say that being im a lifelong ford fan (yes there are still 2 or 3 of us left).. would be good to see the old guy win one but i dont think it will happen.. yates has power for daytona and talladega but thats the only time you hear their name used...other than to say..gilligan wrecked again..but atleast with rudd out there maybe he is teaching the younger drivers the correct way to race at this level similar to mark martin with him talking or working with young guys...

I think that Ricky should go and listen to one of his own interviews after being involved in a wreck with Harry Gant about 10 years ago and then follow his own advice. (I'll paraphrase his comment) That guy shouldn't even be out here racing cause he's too old.

I liked him when he was a kid driving the #3 car, and he'll always be #3 to me. It's even better now that he's in a Ford :^)

I've always like the "Iron Man". He's not my favorite driver, but I've just always liked the guy. He's clean, and respected both on and off the track by his fellow drivers.
