You need to make her understand that Jesus is always gonna be number one. You need to make it happen. If she will not join you, don't let her slow you down. Good luck, Brother

Could you give us a little more information? The answer depends a lot on what faith you hold. Zen? Judaism? Christianity? New Age?

Without knowing that, though, my best advice is to simply bear with them and be patient. They may not be "holding you back" as much as you might think... your subconscious mind could be using that as an excuse. Given the kinds of things people have had to deal with through the ages, and still were able to achieve great spiritual growth and wisdom, our industrial modern lives are very sheltered and easy in comparison.

Bear in mind, though, I'm just giving you some thoughts. Without knowing the situation, I can't really advise you specifically.

You can't change your spouse. You have to work harder to continue to keep the faith. You need a church family who is there to help give you strengh. Keep your spouse up in prayer. Prayer is very powerful, pray to God that your spouse will one day receive the Holy Spirit, and that everything will turn for the better. Don't let anyone hold you back from God.

No one can hold your spiritual life back except you. You have the ability to communicate with God 24/7/365. You can choose to live by his word or not. Don't confuse religion with a personal relationship with God. Some of God's most devout followers never see the inside of a church.

Ever try asking your spouse why she feels that way? Maybe there is an intelligent reason he/she feels the way she does about spirituality, anyway you just can't expect others to believe what you do.

Ask yourself why your spouse has so much control or influence over any aspect of your life. YOU are responsible for your spiritual life. If you want to read scripture, pray/meditate, go to church, whatever, you need to do it. What does your spouse have to do with it?

You can only go as far in your spiritual life as you can take your spouse and family.
If you think you are more spiritual than her and she is holding you back then you are failing as spiritual leader of your family.

If you fail in your marriage, you fail spiritually.

You are not separate from your wife, God sees the two of you as one flesh.

Remember we are commanded to love our wives as Christ loved the church while the wife is only commanded to reverence her husband.

God first, then family, then ministry.

God bless!
I doubt any of us love our wives as much as Christ loved the church but that is the standard.

This is extremely touchy subject because it crosses the thin line of love for you life on earth and love for your life in heaven. Marriage, like you know, is all about sacrifice. A marriage canceler can help you threw this if your not willing to openly talk about it with your spouse. However, saying it bluntly can truly hurt their feelings. Talk to your priest!

You should seek christian counseling. Go together if you can, but if you can't, then you should go on your own. Also, you should get your pastor to counsel you and pray with and for you. And do what you can to shine your light anyway, lovingly, in the presence of your spouse.

You and your spouse will be in my prayers.

As long as you are filled with God's Holy Spirit, no one can hold back your personal relationship with Jesus. You can have peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control any time you choose. And you can pray at all times.
