They speak Portuguese. I know this is true because I'm learning Portuguese right now (specifically the Brazilian dialect). Because of the close proximity however and the fact that pretty much the rest of S. America speaks spanish a large number of Brazilian citizens that live near Argentina and Uruguay report that they are able to speak (or at least understand) Spanish. However, the opposite does not always hold true. Many Spanish speakers have a harder time understading Portuguese from Brazil.
