As often as you consider atheism. or Allah.
I've prayed, read the Bible, gone to church, soul searched, spoken to preachers, read books on theology...My doubt is not born out of laziness or apathy.

I did. It was no good for me, because your God is too exclusive. There is no room for a true feminine deity in Christianity, I presume that is the religion of which you speak. I am answering very sincerely for you, and I wonder very sincerely in return, has it ever bothered you that Christianity has no Goddess? That the Father and the Son don't have the equivalent of the Mother and the Sister? If you fall back on Mary as the Christian Mother figure, I would point out that she isn't considered a Goddess by Christianity and is therefore not equal in spiritual power or standing. That is not fair, not right, misogynistic, and it is very annoying to be told that that is just the way it is because God set it up that way. Ahem....
Also, your Father says his way is the only way, and that anyone with any belief that doesn't put him as number one will suffer torture for eternity. So, that means ANYONE with ANY other beliefs or opinions is shot to hell, no returns sorry and bye. Well, that just doesn't make sense to me. A lot of things about Christianity make no sense, these are just a couple.
I do hope you will ponder what I have said. Just thinking about it won't send you to hell.
Bright blessings! )0(

As sincerely as I can explain, my Heavenly Father passed away. He had a chance to be kind, loving and charitable. He had a chance to be very clear about what was important and had a chance to be very clear about how we should treat each other. He failed miserably. He became irrational, illogical, arbitrary, and brutal. He engaged in acts that are considered reprehensible today. He had horrible parenting skills and was intolerant and unforgiving. He has simply become passe, irrelevant, silly.
Like lots of abused kids, I don't miss him a bit. I've gotten over him and am liberated, free and feeling very good.

Are you asking different christians hoping for an answer that consents with you or are you asking atheists even after seeing their words you nevertheless isn't confident? "answer rather." i will't answer for many atheist, through fact each and every human beings thinks in a diverse way. i will inform you that i do no longer "hate" the only you call your heavenly Father, yet after 2 a protracted time of religious teachings, suggestion, analyze, I easily have nevertheless yet to be sure information of his existance. What I do dislike is people who profess to be followers and servants of the only you call Christ and avid believers of your God, and that i've got heard and notice the main surprising issues. i'm sorry if me denying your Heavenly Father offends or hurts, yet for me this is the actuality. till I see information, i will't blindly persist with that which i do no longer see. Seasons Greetings to you. Take care :)

Yes, quite often. But the main (if not only) starting point would be the Bible, which is full of myths. And all that crap about opening up, surrendering, praying can be explained scientifically. We have a part of the brain that can be shut off if we concentrate hard enough, the part that makes us aware of our physical selves and the boundaries between us and the rest of the universe.
So no reason to believe, other than weak comfort, structure.

First of all, let me remind you that the word "atheist" comes from the Greek word "theos." Note the position of the "e." The suffix, "ist" denotes a practitioner or adherent. For example, a person who plays a piano is called a pianist, a doctor who takes care of teeth is a dentist.
If you put those two ideas together, you will remember how to spell "atheist."
Now, as to your question. Most of the atheists with whom I am acquainted began as profoundly religious people, many of them were even clergyman. I myself was seriously considering the seminary.

Why should I? There are hundreds of religions, each just as valid. There are thousands of books with help and advice, the test is what is their validity. Does the adding of the supernatural enhance my life one iota.
I have looked and read and so on - and basically, the more I read and the more I look, the more absurd the whole God and supernatural and superstition thing becomes.
I have better things to do with my life than to throw it away on myth.

Well, I tried that, it didnt work for me...
God (if it were true) has done nothing for me other than kill off everyone in my family except for my mother.
I have noone left other than her...
I instead turned to Agnosticism, we are not as cruelly treated, and are far more free...
I gave up religion, it is a bunch of nonsense anyways...
Before christianity, there was Catholicism, Protestants, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Daoism, Confusianism, and then before this, there were no religions...
It is just all made up ways to get younger generations to believe in what you believe in...

Christians, have you ever considered giving our Buddha a chance?
You think your God Father is the only hope for human huh? Well, the same way I feel about our belief. So why don't you just keep move on with your God Father and leave us and our belief alone?
While you thought you are saving Iraq Muslim, you are actually destroying their life. Think about it: Saving or Slaving?

Let me see if I've got this right: You're talking about the All-powerful, All-knowing, All-seeing, All-loving God?... And you think he needs a Chance from little ol' Me?
Wouldn't that sorta be like spittin' in the ocean to keep the water level up?
