I don't have any god(s), but when I was a believer I did notice the endless cycle of real estate in American Christianity.
Build more churches, so you can have more pews, so you can collect more money, so you can build more churches, so you can have more pews, so you can collect more money, so you can build more churches, so you can have more pews, so you can collect more money, so you can build more churches, so you can have more pews, so you can collect more money, so you can build more churches, so you can have more pews, so you can collect more money, so you can build more churches, etc., etc., etc.

Simple, The scripture says give 10 percent tithes. And to bring all ye tithes to the storehouse. There are a few examples in the word regarding tithing and not being honest by keeping whats already his. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. It is important to make sure we are giving a proper sacrifice. 10 percent is not much since it is a tax deductible donation and you will get approx 35 percent of it back once you reach and exceed standard deduction. I have been blessed many times financially when I have given when I did not have it. God demands the first fruits, not the scraps, this is exactly what got Cain into trouble way back when. He offered the scraps of a cursed land instead of first fruits.
NU 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the TITHES which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.
MAL 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In TITHES and offerings.
MAL 3:10 Bring ye all the TITHES into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

God doesn't just want your money!!! He wants your time and your energy, effort! He wants what you can offer... Some or shall I say most people don't know that! If you are going to pick and choose things to gripe about at least research a little bit first. You give to give..... not to receive. Al-tho God rewards people who are faithful and willing with the precious gift of life everlasting, and in some cases worldly prosperity. The leaders of the church in turn are in charge of making sure the money gets used in God's way. If that doesn't happen... well then they got some explaining to do when the time comes! True people of the word fallow the perfect example and try to live one day at a time.

Whatever u feel u have in excess which u can never use give it to those require, who would use them the same way u want to use. If u have ur need then fulfill them first. We cannot be beggar to give away to another beggar.
We should be rich enough support self then to support others. Whatever u give out of love and kindness maybe the smallest to the needy that reaches God.

i think ur oversimplifying here.
First of all, we are the church. It's not so much giving as pooling funds for the glory of God.
Second, churches need money to survive, just like the red cross has to pay people to run.
Third, not all places have priests, only Catholics.
I mean, there was that thing about leaders bilking money... but the average pastor is not paid largely.

I am Muslim and were not supposed to give money to Imams or anything like that. Nor do we give God gifts. The only thing we do is try to be good people and to pray to him. As far as money would go though it is nice to help the needy and such and we all do try to do that

God does not want money.
Buying graces is called Simony and is condemned.
We give money to the CHURCH to cover the costs of housing , building , food, clothing, etc., etc., etc.
You should wait 'til you have supported yourself in the big bad scary world before you post really simple questions like this.

What would God do with a bunch of shiny metal and paper. We give it to the ones who need it, and we feel good about that.

I give $ to that which enhances Life, which includes God.
The end result is having an enhanced Life journey.
