I really need some help with it. I have never gotten a solo before and my dad thinks it would be a good idea if the whole choir sung, with me as the main soloist. thx!

Laudate Dominum. It's in Latin, but if it's a good choir, you can pull it off. It is beautiful. Also, there is a special version of "Oh come let us adore him", with a long solo. Another is "Here's to song."

If you want something really fun and different, do "Like a Prayer" by Madonna. I know the video was very controversial but there is nothing wrong with the lyrics. Its a song alot of people know and like and the soulful choir singing at the end is just amazing. Something else along the same line, "Dont Stop Me Now" by Queen. Very fun and appropriate. These are songs I wish my choir could have sung when I was in high school. :)

There are some really nice songs in the musical -Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat. They are modern and always popular. There should be something on the net you could log into? There was a cute musical I did when younger called Little Mary Sunshine. Not the movie,but the musical. There were some neat songs in that. But your local library or a musical group could give you more ideas. Good Luck!

"This Is My Country" - great solo in the verse and good arrangements for choir. Here are the lyrics - show them to your choir director. The verse makes a great first solo.
Chorus:
