So I was talking on the phone to my guy friend and we both know we like each other and have talked about it, when he said something about when he hugged me earlier and we had our arms around each other's back. He hugged me and we never really ended the hug, we just kept our arms around each other's backs. So on the phone he said something like " yeah you were holding me today and you had your arm around me" and i said "you're the one that hugged me and it just kinda happened" and he said something like "well i didn't want you to feel weird because you had your arm around me" and then he says "but you know that I do like you" completely serious. What does he mean by that!??!? What happened was that we hugged and we BOTH never really move our arms that were around each other's backs but I wasn't really sure about it. I kind of moved to where if the hug was over, he'd move his arm and if he didn't, then he wouldn't know that I wasn't sure about the hug, but he never moved his arm.

My question is, what does he mean by saying that he didn't want me to feel weird by not moving my arm when it was him that gave me the hug and both of us that didn't move our arm??? Why is he saying I did it, but he turns around and says "but you know I like you" ????

Sounds to me like he just wanted to make sure you knew he liked you and he wasn't ONLY hugging you so you wouldn't feel weird. Because you said he said "you're the one that hugged me and it just kinda happened" and "well i didn't want you to feel weird because you had your arm around me" which to him must've sounded like he was saying "hey, you were hugging me so I hugged, big deal" so to make up for what he said, and so he didn't make you think that's what he meant, he added "but you know that I do like you". Sounds to me like the boy is nervous and really likes you. He's just too worried about screwing up and having you think he's a loser and just leaving him.

OMG this is so high school... sigh, I dont miss this sort of over analysis. I think it is obvious he probably likes you but you guys need to work on communication. When he said "I like you" you should have said, what do you mean? Don't worry, it will come up again. And next time he hugs you and you hug back, say something like "I like how this feels."

Quit overanalyzing something as stupid as a hug. If you start this now, you'll never stop and he'll dump you for being annoying. He said he liked you, chill out.

you are completely overanalyzing this hug. if you hug a guy, and you like it, and he likes it, then you got something. go on a date with the guy, go on several dates, maybe he'll become your boyfriend and you can hug him some more. it doesn't have to be complicated.

Don't make a bigger deal out of it than it is. He intention was that he didn't want you to feel weird about it. Take it as him being sweet. If he says "I like you." it means "I like you."
