Doctors have all but stopped prescribing medication for ear infections. Yes it is safe to lay on your side and use a heating pad. Continue the decongestant, Tylenol for pain. It will take care of itself in a couple days.

I had the same thing happen to me after a cold this time last year, and it turned out to be a buildup of wax.
I was in so much pain, I didn't think it could possibly be something as simple as wax. I used peroxide to soften the wax, and tried to get it out with warm water. Unfortunately, I had pushed it too far inside my ear with a q-tip and had to go to my doctor to pull it out. It wasn't too painful getting the wax removed, and being able to hear all of a sudden was amazing!
If it doesn't go away after a couple days, and is still very painful, then go see your doctor... they even have a special tool designed for the specific task.

It has been reported that ear candling is both dangerous and ineffective by medical researchers. Your doctor can flush your ears in about 20 mins or so. You will be shocked at the results.......you'll hear noises that you never heard before.

Have you ever tried ear candling? Get a professional to do it for you if possible. It can be done with help from a friend as well. Also you can go to your doctor and have your ears flushed. that will help. (ear candling should not be practiced on people who have ear tubes)

Sounds like an ear infection. You should go to the doctor before it gets serious.

you may have a secondary ear infection and if this persists beyond tomorrow, the ear pain - come on , see a doctor and get treated, you don't want a brain abscess. on the other hand, if you are a sensitive person who pays too much attention to minor symptoms, just watch yourself and be your best nurse!
