OMG whats going on with gas prices why do they keep going up. almost $4 a gallon thats outragous. its too expensive to drive anywhere and you have to drive to get to work and such everyday what are we going to do? I know i cant afford that. it seems like the rich keep getting richer and the poor keeps getting poorer. Im screwed when it comes to driving and i have a feeling im not the only one. even milk has gone up in price which really stinks! im really upset and freaked out this aint cool. is gas going to go back down or are they going to keep making it go up til no one can afford it except for the exceptionally wealthy. i have a feeling that the outcome of this isnt too good.

What are we going to do and how much is gas going to go up in price? is anything else going up?

Hi Kitty,

Yes, gas is skyrocketing. You can listen to suckers and oil company proponents and why they say gas is going up, or you can accept the simple truth.

Suckers and oil company fans will tell you that demand, refinery problems, fuel blend mixtures, and political instability are responsible for these massive increases. They lie, or they are incredibly stupid.

While the factors above will have an effect on gas prices, the truth is that the oil and gas companies use those factors as an excuse to dramatically hike the price. How do we know this? Every time a hurricane is poised to possibly hit the Gulf of Mexico, where many refineries are located, gas prices shoot up. Even when the danger has passed, gas prices are slow to fall back to pre-hurricane levels, even if the hurricane completely missed the refinery areas. Gas people will tell you that we pay the higher price for a while because their supply was purchased at the higher costs. What that doesn't explain is why, as soon as the hurricane warning is announced days in advance, we pay the new, skyrocketed price immediately. After all, the gas station owner paid the lesser price for his current supply, so shouldn't the lower price remain until he has to buy the recent higher-priced fuel?

More evidence of the greed of the oil and gas industry is that while prices have gone to record levels, so have their profits. If they were merely passing on the higher costs of production, demand, etc, they would not be reaping mega-profits.

The solution is to regulate the oil and gas industry and put a stop to the complete raping of the American public. Good luck.

Not buying gas on a particular day or boycotting one supplier will not work. They've both been tried many times before, and they've never worked. They can't work because you simply cannot get 300 million people to agree on anything, and even if you could, it would be for too short a time to have any lasting effect.

The real problem is that Americans refuse to make any real efforts at conservation. Look at today's headline at USA Today.com:
"Record high fuel costs don't deter Memorial Day travelers"
Read the article:
http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2007-05-24-holiday-travel-fuel_N.htm

Add to that the fact that Americans are still driving gas guzzling vehicles like SUVs, and we use powertools for everything from raking the lawn in the summer (leaf blowers!) to shoveling snow in the winter (snow blowers!) and it's no wonder that prices are high. Demand is more than double what it should be!

I just read that congress is trying to pass a law on Gas gouging. Thing is I don't know if they feel like gas gouging is going on now. I seriously think that the only thing that is going to stop this is for all Americans to limit driving even if they can afford it. We as an American people have already shown the Gas companies that we are willing to pay that much. I just hope it doesn't throw us into a depression.

Everything is going up in price, it's called inflation young grasshopper. As you said theres not much we can do, we all need gas and will continue to buy it, our only other alternatives are hybrid cars, or another type of renewable fuel. Until that happens, looks like we're all stuck paying 4$ a gallon.

To be honest I just quit my job, I was driving 45 mins each way, putting in about 10-15$ everyday just to go do my job and maybe go shopping or stop off someplace close to home. That is insane. I'm currently trying to find something closer to home so that I don't have to drive that far. It was actually putting a pretty big dent in my paycheck so I decided to do something about it.

Two things... 1) Everyone should stay home Memorial Day Weekend, don't spend extra money on the extra travel and don't reward oil co's with extra profit. 2) Research and do what you can to get alternative fuel such as biodiesel and/or E100 Ethanol into use in your community ASAP, not in 5 years. Now you know what to do.

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It's worthy of your consideration.

Join the resistance! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by summer and it might possibly go higher! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around earlier! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of 2007, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.
