Which language is easier....well it all depends on your abilities, how much you are willing to put into practising it and the opportunity you have around you.
Important language....you need to know why you want to learn a specific language: is it related to your job (Latin America, Spain...), or fun. The language most spoken in the World is Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish and English.
Mandarin might be a good move since China is "opening" itself to the rest of the World and you might as well give yourself a chance to learn about that country (myself living in Hong Kong, but speaking Cantonese...that took some effort, not due to difficulty, chinese has no grammar, no gender...simple sentence structure...just tones, and ppl here in HK make it hard for foreigners to learn. They like to chit chat about you!).
Spanish...you get the whole of South America (no Brazil) to yourself then, and Spain.
French...well, France, Canada (part of it), and quite a few places in Africa, Mauritius...
You just need to think about what you want to use the language for.

Having studied both, in my opinion Spanish was a lot easier. For one thing I found there to be less irregularities in conjugation. There are also a few words that I still have a hard time pronouncing in French. In Spanish after I learned the basics I was good to go.
Another factor that might help you make your choice is the fact that there are a lot more people in the U.S. as well as in the world that speak Spanish, so you should have many chances to practice. With all that said I still think that French is a very fun language and actually prefer the sound of it. I'm going to finish learning it after I'm done with Spanish

For me it was easier to learn spanish than french ( I took french for 7 years in school and I did not learn much; I just did not like the language). Spanish is easy because you read it as you write it.
I would say spanish is more important to know ( it is the second international language), but it all depends where you live and which would be more useful to you.

At the beginning, when you're learning the basics, Spanish seems easier. Then,, when you get in the intricacies of the grammar, Spanish gets very difficult.
As I understand it, Spanish has 24 conjugations and French only 15, or something like that.
There are other difficulties in the Spanish language that French doesn't have.

It's easier for me to learn Spanish just because there are more people around me everyday that speak that language than French therefore I can pick up on it quicker. I live in the US so I would say Spanish is more important to know since it is more prominent here than French.

These days you can learn how to speak Spanish over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Spanish online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/spanish The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Spanish in just 3 months.
I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Spanish language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.

Spanish would probably be more useful, but I took French and it is a fairly easy language to learn.

for one which ever language you want to learn more is naturally easier. however French is easier because it is close to english and the spanish expands too much as far as dialect and tences and imperfect tences. French gets easier as you learn it.

Yes, for one good reason. Spanish is pronounced for the most part exactly as it is written. French (and English) are not.
