Be there. Keep him in your prayers and support him. (mentally of course). There will be times he questions his choice let him know how proud you are of him and how proud America is of him. Heck let him know that I (a guy on line who has finished his military duty) is proud of and salutes him for taking up the battle, and keeping all of us free. God Bless him and you.

Letters are great and if you send care package you must send enough for all in his barracks( or at least it use to be that way)But mail is the most important thing right now. He should get 30 day leave when done with his training. And NEVER send a Dear John letter.

Be creative with your letters. Cut them up into puzzles, send pictures, send confetti hearts (although he may wind up sweeping the whole bay he certainly won't forget it! - ask me how I know?!), a phone card so when he IS allowed to call home later he will have the ability to do so, cards (mushy, funny, sexy), a letter that stops in the middle and continues with the next letter, things you are planning to do when he gets back, dreams for the two of you, a list of questions for him to answer and send back, fun postcards, stamps, just things to let him know you are thinking of him that are flat. In a few weeks he should be able to get a package - he'll let you know then you can send more stuff. When you do send goodies be aware you may have to send enough for his whole platoon or company.

You can do it just count of the days and let him know you are!

if he is gone for basic training then maybe you shouldn't send him care packages ask him if he can receive them. I know how you are feeling my huubby left to boot camp and school while i was in school it was the hardest thing ever but during his time in boot camp i would wirte him everyday. and thats when he asked me to marry him and 5 years later here we are dont worry he knows you love him and that you do what you can.

This is about you, not about him. He already knows you care. Don't deny your feelings, but don't be high maintenence. Just be busy and get good grades, write letters and send packages. That's all you can do til he gets back.

You will be OK, plenty of people have gone through this, and you will be just fine. You need to chill out and just be happy you have a boy friend with some nuts that would at least join.

Good Luck!

My husband is in Iraq right now, the most important thing to these guys are the letters and pcitures they get. Just send him a lot of letters and tell him you love him!

Yeah, my husband left on deployment today. *SIGH* Just be there when he gets done... so many guys get "dear John" letters in basic... that is about the worst thing someone can so to someone in basic.

Oh... do *not* send him goodies!!! Not only he, but his entire division will be made to suffer if you do!
