What color is the interior? That would tell a lot.
Me, personally. I would take an accent color from the interior and make it the upper color. Normally upper section of car is cheaper to paint as its just a few flat panels and not getting into door handles, door jams, lights, etc.
So say you have a tan interior. Find that accent tan/pewter color and then use that. Plus keeping it clean, classy, you shouldn't have an issue in ever selling it. Something like orange will seriously limit selling it in the future, not to mention make you a SORE THUMB to every cop in the area. They will know you be car alone as you will stick out.
Don't forget to black out wheel wells and under carriage, specially anything that shows from any angle. This will give the illusion that she sits lower and gives it a cleaner look. As who wants to see strut towers or something. Black rubberized undercoating in the red can from AutoZone works good. Bout 3-4 cans will do entire underside and wells.
Since you are going to do an upper color, it might be too much or not look right, but maybe a dual rally stripe thru the upper color in another accent color. So say if we are using the tan as before, and you made a beige upper, use a darker beige by a few shades for the rally. That way its not dominant, but its there. Like a heavy ghost rally stripe. Help keep that muscle car image.

Consider putting some candy apple red on it, or, colbalt blue. Look at pictures of the two tone Viper. Maybe white with blue or red racing stripes on the hood and trunk? Don't put 24" rims on it. I am a retired Dodge dealer and know what I am talking about. It will screw up the TCM (transmission control module) and the BCM (body control module) and you can have problems with it. If you put 22" rims on it, be certain you get a high end tire so you maintain good control. Also consider color matched mud flaps.

My 69 was Vitamin C Orange and I loved that color with a black vinyl roof, blackout patches on the hood and a stripe down the middle like the one in "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" movie.
I'm thinkin Candy Orange sides, white top and white stripes on the hood with bumble-bee stripes on the trunk. Just my two cents worth.

Old school was plum purple and lime green on the chargers, challengers, darts, etc.
Your choice, but be sorta neat to blend old school with new, and a bit of funk as well.
