I was wondering how much you had and where you had it andbat what age. Also, how many lazer treatments did you go through to get rid of it? THanks

Hi there...i am of italian/greek descent, so it is a hereditary problem for me. starting in maybe 10th or 11th grade i started get a lot of hair on my face...like side burns like my brother and all over the place. I tried the shaving with electric razor, but that left me with rashes, I have very sensitive skin. So started to wax it. And continued that until end of college (so maybe 7 years) going every three week's religiously. It made me very self conscious. then I had laser treatment done back in 1998 when laser was very new. That first treatment was $1000 I think. I did have an allergic reaction to a numbing cream that I was told to use by the doctor and ultimately had scabs all over my face for weeks. I have very dark brown hair and light skin and therefore perfect candidate for laser. So I went back to waxing for a few years. However, I have since gone to my dermatologist and had more laser done for the last three years. and am now almost completely hair free.

I did also have hair on my abs/stomach removed as well. I had always had hair there, but it didn't start making me feel self conscious until about two years ago.

As far how much it costs, original 1 time treatment 9 years ago was $1000. Over the course of the last three years or so I have had my stomach and face done about 1 - 2 times per year for about $600 per treatment. My face has taken about 7 or 8 treatments, probably need one more. And stomach has had 4 and would probably need 1 or 2 more.
My doctor recommends treatments with laser about every 2 - 3 months. However, I usually only go when I have the money to spend on it. I figure I have about $3500 or so involved at this point for laser. and if you do the math with waxing, I waxed my face for 9 years and have about $2500 involved. So definately worth it.

One thing to keep in mind with laser, is that it is not totally known if it is permanent, it is not a quick fix. It does take time and commitment. you shouldn't tan or make your skin dark as it causes problems with the laser. And it doesn't work very well on blonde/light colored hair.

And despite my first, very bad experience, I would do it over again in a heart beat. But do it with a licensed person, like dermatologist who knows skin and skin related problems. If you have any sort of irritation or problems, they know what to do to fix it.
