Hi. I am a Junior in High School and recently I have been charged with burglary. (I know, stupid mistake). I have also been talking to a recruiter about joining the Marines, but I am not sure if i want to join right out of high school, or join the Airforce / Marines as an officer after college. Now my recruiter told me he can talk to my Probation officer or Judge and get me off it, but his name or the Marine corps name would not be on it, but however that would mean I am going to go to boot camp and get Enlisted. I am not sure if that is what he meant. If his name is not on it, and no papers are signed, how does that mean I am enlisted? Is he lying to me? Any help is appreciated, thx.

Oh yeah, I told him i haven't talked to the Air Force recruiter yet, and they told me that the air force recruiter will NOT do the same thing they'd do to help me get off probation. I don't know. I've been told to be wary of recruiters....

it is ILLEGAL for the recruiter to do what he has offered. you must have completed all probation and any other sentence/punishment before you can ship.

Best advise: keep your nose clean and take a few college courses and than after your probation is done, go talk to a different Recruiter.

He's lying. You can't enlist when you're on probation. Don't trust ANYTHING the recruiter tells you unless you got it in writing with his name on it.
What he wants you to do is commit fraud, which won't be discovered until the warrant for your arrest catches up to you.
Stop talking to this guy. In fact, call your probation officer and let him know you were talking to a Marine recruiter who was trying to get you to commit fraud. Then when this asshole calls you, his threats to call your probation officer will be meaningless.
Go to college. By the time you get your degree, that recruiter will have been sent to Iraq.

First, it is illegal for him to talk to anyone on your behalf. Second, enlisting as an officer does nothing for him that is why he is trying to get you to go enlisted. He could go to jail for doing what he says he will do. If I were you i would find and talk to a reputable recruiter of another branch.

no ya cant join on probation. this bs "go to war or go to jail" is outdated and over rated. you should report that *** to his recruiting commander for trying to commit recruitment propriement (i think thats the word). i was an instructor for the army last year and recruiters did this garbage to soldiers all the time. it ranges from lying about criminal to medical history and everything in between.
