Hi Matthew;-):

I am a student. A self assigned project was to take on what appeared to be a very difficult task, and resolve it. I choose locating items, like a w2 from from the 70's.

Also, let me add-I'm not that old. My parents don't have copies from that era either.

go to this link http://www.nber.org/~taxsim/gdb/gdb70.pdf
Search thru this site for more information concerning taxation in prior years http://www.nber.org/

it has a copy of the 1040 form for 1970 You have to scroll down about 2/3 rds of the way down the document .
the quality of the form and information is not top quality, but was the best I could find. Most of the older information is scanned in and is in Adobe format, Hope it helps

If you don't have copies somewhere in a desk drawer, could be pretty difficult or impossible. You could request them from your employer at that time, and from the IRS, but it's not real likely that either would be able to provide info that far back. Social security would have records of earnings for those years, but not for other W-2 items like what you had withheld.

You might wish to state the purpose you intend to use these W-2 forms. I presume that you are interested in your W-2 forms from your work related income. However the question is not clear that you are not looking for blank forms from that period.

Since you are looking for blank forms, go to the IRS. Call them and let them know what you are doing. You will need to make several calls to get to the right person. If you can't get it done e-mail me and I will help. The following link will take you to the IRS web site. They don't have forms older than 1990.
