if you want to keep shaving - use aloe lotion or gel as a pre-shave skin conditioner.. you can aslo shave leaving the aloe gle on, but it you will need to rinse the razor after every stroke. also - try applying a warm, wet washcloth to the area prior to shaving, and while the skin is still wet, seal the skin with aloe again. any other product that is not 10% natural will irritate the skin. change your razor too... venus isn't bad if you are on a budget. alos if you want to keep going to a spa, ask for an older, more esthetician. at my spa, the younger women do this to feel more comfortable - for whatever reason.

Shaving is really not good for the bikini area.
I hate going to the wax professional because I don't like to feel so exposed. However, I did get professional waxing for a while and I got great pointers on how to wax at home myself. Now I wax using Nad's, and it works great. But I don't think it would have worked so well had I not gotten pointers at the professional waxing salons.
If you try to wax at home - remember to wax very little at a time. Professional waxers do very little at a time and use tons of muslin strips.
Use body powders to keep the surface dry.
Tweeze stray hairs as opposed to waxing them.
If you don't want to venture waxing, you need to lay down your razor for a few days until your skin heals.
Use "bikini zone cream" or "tend skin" to treat the ingrown hair.
Use triple+ blades razors to get a closer shaving.

Well, if you are going to shave, always use a new or like new razor! It makes the biggest biggest difference! And always use a gel shaving cream, never soap or anything... Your not supposed to go against hair growth, but you get a better shave... so depending on how sensitive your skin is. And I would always kind of like, hold my leg skin (not that I have loose gross skin or anything haha), but you know.- make the area super tight for no nicks.
Never use a Nair, or removing lotion!! I don't even have sensitive skin and it burned my leg, not even trying it other areas! It will burn so bad
But I would do waxing, don't worry about being embarrassed, the people see so many all the time, its like the gyno, no shame :)

Try shaving in the direction the hair grows. You won't get as smooth, but it should help with the ingrown hairs. Also, while in the shower wait 10 minutes for your hair folicles to open up before shaving and use shaving gel. There's also lotions on the market to put on after shaving to help with irritaion and ingrown hairs. Good luck.

Waxing is your best bet (as painful as it is). I did mine myself this way I was in control of how much pain I wanted to subject myself to. Another alternative is to use this stuff called COOCHIE CREAM. Silly I know, but it works. You use it like a shaving cream and it has other uses as well. If you decline the waxing, that's the next best thing.

Try Nair. But personally, I am a fan of waxing. After the first time having a professional do it, there really is no more embarrassment.
