The last 10 pounds are always the hardest to get rid of and often times call for drastic measures. Now, this might work for you and it might not, but it did work very well for me.
It was a combination 1-2 punch with an elbow thrown in.
The first was lactic acid training. You work out hard and have short rest intervals. In particular I did "Meltdown training" but other forms of lactic acid training will work.
The second was diet. I did a modified Atkins type diet that focused which was high protien, mid fats and low carbs. If you want, google "T-Dawg diet".
The third was supplements. Now on the T-Dawg you do need to take certain vitamins and minerals simply because you're going to get sick if you don't. I added an ECA stack to it which I took 3 times a day and especially 20 minutes before I started to work out.
In 4 weeks I had lost the last 10 pounds and finally not only had some abs, but had abs that people could actually see.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!
