Well, I guess it is alright, though for everyone else then, huh?

You know, child molesters, and cultists?

Oh, well. My girls don't need the Boy Scouts, and I guess I will not be buying any more of their candybars or brats they sell for fundraising.

Thanks for that bit of information!

I read that article too. Wasn't it featured yesterday? No, wait, it's featured today... I just looked at it "last night" when it'd already changed to the next day. Anyway... They are a private organization and can restrict membership pretty much however they want, but you're right, if they're receiving government sponsorship and continue their discriminatory practices regardless, that does make the situation pretty "sticky". They're "allowed" to discriminate like they do, but that doesn't mean I have to like it or support them in any way. There's no shame or inferiority in being an atheist, an agnostic or a homosexual. The BSA will never have my support.

A friend of mine's son was forced to acknowledge belief in a god before he was allowed to progress to the next "level" of scouting (I don't know much about the Boy Scouts, so that's all the info I have).

It doesn't change my opinion necessarily, but I think they should come out and say what they are: a Christian organization. Before my friend's son had to quit, I'd assumed they were totally non-religious. Posing as something secular in effort to get little kids involved seems fishy to me.

It already was in a pretty negative light. Because I knew that. Plus I don't like the Girl Scouts, because they wouldn't let me be one when I was little. At my school, it wasn't open to everyone - just the popular kids. Damn scouts.

B S A try to develop the entire boy physically--mentally--emotionally--spiritually. I think they do a good job. My son-in-law is a scout master--2 grandsons are Eagle Scouts--another is working toward that goal.

That's no different than they've ever been . The Boy Scouts were founded as an orginazation devoted to maintaining white supremacy--in otherwords, tehy've been racist from the word go.

The Girl Scouts don't have these primitive restrictions. It sounds to me like the BSA would just love to fly the Confederate flag and sponsor KKK rallies too. Knuckle draggers...

Part of the whole scouting thing is duty to G-d and man kind- so that rules out atheists by default.

Positive, they are about the only group left that hasn't fallen victim of social degeneration. They are a private group and therefore have a right to set their own rules and bylaws.

They are a private organization, which means they can make their own rules.
