I watched documentary about Christian fundamentalists last night that made me think that they want this war in the middle east because it will prove the prophecies of the Bible are coming true and then they will will all be saved with the second coming.
It certainly made me think that there is definitely fanatics on both sides and they are using the government for the means to an end.

Here we go again. Misrepresenting what Christianity is and what it means.
Any person who's "trying to force it down your throats" isn't a real Christian.
People who witness for Christ are just bearers of a Message. That's all. The other person has the free will to accept or reject it. If the other person rejects it, you don't spend hours arguing with them or berating them about it = Like it says in Scripture you just knock the dust off of your sandals and move on. You've done your job. You spread your message with common sense, compassion, and respect for others.
Christianity is not just another religion. If you learn more about you will know that it's in a class by itself.....
And no - you aren't going to be the most popular person on the block by coming out as a Christian. That's not what it's all about. A real Christian shouldn't be surprised about that - it mentions all this in Scripture

I'm Catholic, and Christians who stuff their beliefs down other people's throats make me embarassed for them. Unless you're a Jehovah's, nowhere does the Bible (not even written by God or Jesus) say to go out and convert the world. Love thy neighbor. Live and let live. Know what is true and dear to you. Not to mention, didn't Jesus say that the only one who could judge others is God himself?

Alot of people tend to preach the wrong way. The bible is supposed to be a love book but people tend to make it a "if you don't listen to exactly what I am saying you will burn in hell book".Maybe people would be less annoyed with evangelists if they tried to get to the love rather then what will happen if you don't.

I'm not here to win a popularity contest. I have never tried to force my beliefs on anyone. I simply state my opinions in what I believe to be true.

It should not surprise any Christian to be disliked or hated, etc., since Jesus foretold exactly that state of affairs. He said they would be persecuted, just as he had been, and that the world would hate them, just as it had hated him, and put him to a cruel death. If they read the Gospels, they would know this and would not be so danged surprised.

Here's something kind of ironic as well in all of this:
When I was christian, the pastor was always telling us not to buckle under peer pressure...
Kind of a hypocrite, huh?

actually my friend is an atheist and constantly brings up the religious debate to me and demands that i use scientific fact to prove to him that there is a God. i've told him many times that my beliefs are my own and i don't have to explain them to anyone, which is when he calls me a sheep and says i only think that way because my family told me to, etc. so yeah, disrespect isn't always one-sided.

Imagine that. I go out of my way to insult and incinerate their pathetic arguments and total lack of textual interpretation, and the silly bastards call that evangelizing. Go figure.
