I am a Christian but I lived a non-christian life b4 so i have some insight:
it could be bcuz a lot of negative connotations have been assigned to Christians over the past.
Christian sometimes pass as too lovey-dovey, and seem out of touch with the world, ie cut-throat competition, pleasure, etc.
On the other side of the spectrum, some Christians were aggressive and instilled fear into others. Think Southern preachers who preached "damnation and armaggeddon every service. kind of scary and depressing.
Maybe the fact that the ppl who supposedly represented Christianity did the most heinous, contradictory acts. Inquistion, Crusades, sale of indulgences and ecclestical offices.
Lastly, IMO, ppl probably dont like being told that what the lifestyle they live is not correct. Take for example atheists, they are not to be equated with nihilists, atheists do believe in morals and virtues. atheists do live good lives.
perhaps that is the paradox these ppl see, they live good lives already, so why is some1 preaching to me that im sinful , blah, blah.
sorry for the long post, hope this helps.

People don't want to accept what they can't understand. Besides, the bible says we will be hated...but if we stand firm to the end we will be saved! Think of all the people who hated Jesus. And he never did anything to hurt them. People don't like when they feel convicted. Sometimes people call themselves "christians", but do not live like Christ...that also stirs up some of the hatred people have towards christians. They think that because some self-titled "christians" are hypocrites, that means we all are. It is sad, but hey, why does it matter if they hate us? As long as we love them, they will have no justified reason for hating us.

Not all Christians are loving and caring. Some people judge all Christians based on some bad experiences. I know I did, until I met some of my current friends--before, it seemed like everyone was telling me that I'm going to hell and I'm evil, etc, etc. I met some people who were quite a bit more tolerant, luckily, and my opinions changed.
However, there are people who continue to hate, despite meeting some good Christians. There are people who just hate the religion in general because they find it stupid. And there are some that have never met a good Christian. It really depends on the person and/or the environment they grew up in.

If you could put yourselves in a Christians shoes for a minute and imagine YOU were one, and that God's word was your "food" or source of information and a guideline. And it calls for us to be witnesses, or tell others about Him. So we do.
Now imagine if we are correct, and in the long run, Christians were right and you God IS real and you really ARE doomed? You would see the urgency in getting His message across, and why it's so important.
I understand all about faith pushers being aggrivating because I get annoyed when JW's knock on my door. LOL It's one thing to share it's another thing to push and annoy.
Just another view, hope you can understand it a little better.

I am a christian, and I have to disagree with you on a few things. We do force our beliefs on others....just look at the way our churchs' get involved in government and politics. We put our noses into other peoples' bedrooms. We preach freedom of religion, but fail to see that that also emplies the freedom NOT to be religious. The zionist celebrate Israels' demise because it precludes the second coming of Christ....I can see why people dislike us.

This is a No True Scotsman problem.
Whether or not you would call them 'true Christians', people who self-identify as Christians do, in fact, judge, hate, and at least try to force people to accept Jesus.
And witnessing to people who don't want to be witnessed to is in its own category of presumptuousness.

Perhaps the worst part of this "hate Christians" trend is that many, who say they are Christians, because they drink daily from the polluted well of the militantly secular media, have been infected with the same corrupt ideas. It seems we're quick to be critical of our own, to believe the worst about our brothers and sisters, when secularist bigots mouth unthinking slurs.http://www.abcsearch.com/jump/?affiliate=boo1&subid=67646_907&Terms=hating%20christians&e=

I don't think people hate all Christians; I think they hate the idea of hypocritical people who condemn others. That isn't all or even most Christians. I personally can not think of a single individual I hate in the world. I do hate bigotry, falsehood, hypocrisy etc, but I do not hate the individual.

I don't by any means "hate" them.
But can I bring your attention to where you said, "...witness to otheres the truth about Jesus!"
Also, "..force anyone to accept Jesus." Okay then, explain to me why my little brothers youth group is being sent to Mexico to convert poor children and families into Christianity.
Check your sources.
