Era farmaceútico, pero no le gustaba su trabajo.

1) Fue sounds like he's dead, use "Era" for descriptions in the past.
2) Never use un/una with professions. Just simply.. Es profesor, Soy enfermera, Son pilotos.
3) to like is "gustar", quiero is to want. Gustar is not conjugated like other verbs.
4) trabajo is just fine, or you could say empleo. Both of these mean he didn't like this job. To use "profesión would indicate he didn't like the profession of pharmacy (which would also be OK, but probably not necessary to be so specific.)

Good job for trying.

This sentence doesn´t even sound good. The right way to say it is like this:
" El era farmaceútico, pero no le gustó su trabajo".
Good luck!

Él era farmacéutico pero no le gustaba su trabajo.
(accent marks on "Él" and the "e" in farmacéutico)

el era farmacista, pero no le gustaba su trabajo

"profesión" could also be used but it is more related to a career
