My reasoning is this: obeying God's words is far more important than learning them and God is willing to help us to obey and learn, therefore, it's not necessary to ask Him for help. In terms of worldly affairs, God does not play a big role at all. For instance, when we are sick, we go to a hospital. We all know God is not a doc. So, why should we pray that often?( I have been a Christian for 2 yrs now, but I have prayed only twice)

Why don't you want to pray? Think about it: you have the opportunity to have a conversation with the Creator of the universe! Don't pass up this chance! If the most prestigious worldly figure wanted to talk with you, be your friend, would you pass up the chance?

God desires an intimate relationship with you! Think about your friends -- if you only talked with your friends once a year, would you consider that to be a real friendship? Yes, we don't need to tell God everything, since He already knows. But He *wants* us to tell Him everything!

Suppose you win the lottery. You're pumped, right? Everybody knows about it because it was announced on the local news. Don't you still call up your best friend and tell him/her about it? Sure, they must already know about it, but you still want to tell them about it!

I don't do the prayer routine either. It seems too ritualized to me. That doesn't mean I knock it for others or even for the majority. I decided that if Jesus were to be in my heart and have close fellowship with me I didn't want him to be kept out of the way until I called him for something. Instead, I learned to speak with him as I would anyone else. I can get away with that because I live by myself and don't have to worry about someone wanting to lock me away for talking to an "imaginary" person. You know how hard it is to convince the super intelligent lot we have here that he is real. Just think of trying to prove that to a shrink. I talk to him a lot more than when I followed convention, so I hope he thinks I am a good conversationalist.

You need to broaden your concept of prayer. First, God commands it. Why? Because it is good for us and pleases Him. He is your Father. What child does not have wonderful conversations with his earthly father for no reason other than to talk to him, to be with him, to revel in his fellowship? Secondly, the height of Christian maturity is intercessory prayer. There are people, conditions of men, and, yes, even governments and nations that need our prayers. This is commanded by God as well. James said that the prayer of a righteous man avails much. Finally, adoration is prayer in which we do nothing but praise God; in effect, we tell Him what a wonderful God He is. I'm very glad you're a Christian. You say learning is very important, and you are right. Search the Scriptures. But that also means taking to heart what you learn. Study up on prayer. You may be amazed. Always remember this: Christianity is not a body of knowledge. It is the description of a relationship. That relationship, like any other, cannot develop properly without communication. He has communicated to you through His Son and through the Word. Part of your communication in return is prayer. And, I will pray for you!

Well to answer to your comments about "In terms of worldly affairs, God does not play a big role at all. ", He is involved. And about being sick, He's not a doc, He's God. He made our bodies and knows our bodies and how they work better than any doctor ever will. So why shouldn't you pray? You should pray, and for a simple reason to pray for world affairs to improve and help them become more moral and righteous and be how God wants us to live. And you should pray for the doctors so they will become more knowledgeable and will be able to improve medicine.
There's a lot to pray about, and a lot to be grateful about.

God can heal and does heal, He is after all the great physician. He gave man the ability to know how to cure diseases as well as to know about medicine. God created the plants that make our medicine. Pray is communication with God. If you wish to stay in a right relationship to God prayer is important it should be as natural as talking to any best friend you have. God wants to know about your day and all the trouble you go through. Realize he puts our political leaders in power even though we vote them in office. God is in control of the whole universe.

Often people dont' see God has being personal, but if you think about it if God cared enough to send a Savior, He definitely cares enough about our individual life. The Bible says God even knows the number of hair in our head. I doubt seriously you could count your own hair and be successfully correct.

Now on the healing thing I know for a fact God healed me because there was no cure for a illness I had over ten years ago and I am a walking miracle with no reoccurences.

first off...your reasoning stinks! why do you think GOD preserved HIS word? why do you think HE says to meditate upon it daily?? how can you possibly understand GOD or HIS will if you wont even seek HIM either through prayer or HIS word???
yes GOD does reveal HIS mysteries to HIS children, those that love and obey HIM, and HE helps us overcome sin and temptation and learn obedience...but part of obedience is reading HIS instructions!
you are NOT a christian...you have no understanding of what it is to be CHRISTlike...how can you?
IF YOU ARE AT ALL SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR SALVATION...PRAY DAILY AND STUDY GODS WORD (KJV ONLY)

No. You need to have a balance. Not only reading the Bible and obeying it but also praying. Because prayer is the way we talk to God. It doesn't necesarilly mean that you close your eyes and pray. You can pray to God with open eyes. Prayer is sincerely talking to God.

You are cheating yourself more than you can possibly imagine. Prayer is a beautiful communion between us and God. The bible tells us to "pray without ceasing". If you develop a closer walk with the Lord, you will desire to speak to Him more often. May I suggest getting into a good bible study? Then I think you will find out much more about how important prayer is to us...and that it is something each believer should desire to do as often as possible.

Do you like it when family members and friends talk to you? Do you like to converse with others? I rather enjoy talking to all sorts of people, young and old alike.

God is like that....He LOVES to hear us talk to Him and that is what praying is. Praying is a lifetime dialog with our BEST friend. We tell Him about our desires, our interests, our disappointments, our joys, etc. We ask forgiveness for our daily sins. We tell Him how thankFUL we are for our blessings. Why would you not want to talk to Him? If you plan to spend eternity with Him why would you not want to talk to Him. When we go to the hospital we thank God for the education of the doctors, for the hospital which is there for our wellbeing, for the medications that have been invented to help in our recovery.

Part of being a Christian is praying to our wonderful Creator. Praying for others, praying for ourselves, and being thankFUL enough to tell Him.

I think He would be sad if you refused to pray and praise Him daily.....He is deserving of it you know. :o)

The scripture tells us to pray without ceasing. The reason being is that while Satan has temporary rule over this world, God (through Jesus) has provided a means for us to break the barrier between earth and the heavenly realm through prayer. There are hundreds of things to pray for without praying just for yourself. If you truly have the faith that God will provide for your every material need, then perhaps your calling is to pray for world affairs, or for His will to be done, or to mobilize His angelic armies, or to pray for others needs, etc etc.
One thing is sure, you MUST pray for His guidance in knowing what your own gifts are and how He is prompting you to use them.
Not my intention to be critical, but in my experience, the Christian who sits on their hands is truly a grievous site. You have been blessed by God. It would not be in your best interest to deny God or your fellow Christians the extreme pleasure of seeing you grow and prosper in Him. :D

blessings and KEEP PRAYING!
love in Christ - Ramjet :)
