Here's a great tip: look at Fiji!
The so-called "coup" was a non-event, BUT it got enough press (especially in Australia & New Zealand, major markets for Fiji) that travel numbers are way down, and so many hotels are offering fabulous discounts.
Your budget will give you a lot of options in Fiji. I've attached a link to some of our specials below (we're a honeymoon travel agency). Note that we have a Fijian native in our office here (Aruna)--as she lived in Fiji for over 20 years, she certainly knows what she's talking about :-)
I've also attached links to our Fiji Travel Guide, and Aruna's article on her top 10 tips for Fiji honeymoons.

Hawaii is the number one honeymoon destination in America. The Caribbean is grossly overrated, but Hawaii isn't. You can go to Kauai it's about as quiet as it gets with some of the best beaches in the world. It's neither the rainy or hurricane season, in fact October is the start of some of the best weather you get there. It's also when the rates go down so you should get a good deal too.

My co-worker goes to Aruba every October since her15th Wedding Anniversary about 3 yrs ago. They both love it.
My brother just returned from Hawaii in October as well and what a beautiful place just from the pictures and videos I saw - they would love to return every year but it was very costly - though the exact amount of their trip was never disclosed.
Good luck on your decision but as long as your are with your significant other you will surely have a great time!
