I just follow my core beliefs and stay neutral towards gods because there are so many gods and goddesses out there that choosing the right one/ones is impossible. No there isn't just one choice unless you are bias torwards that one. Just because something is popular doesn't mean that it is right.

Well I choose not to acknowledge rather than belief... even if empirical proof were available I would not follow certain deities because of their attributes which I find hypocritical and distasteful.
There is no empirical proof for deities and there is not any against them either so I choose to ignore the concept until solid, concrete proof becomes available and I put my faith in my fellow human being.

I would be as happy as anyone if a "god" appeared and told me all the secrets of the universe. However, I know all religions in the world are phoney, so there's no way I'd want to get involved in that.

Im Catholic but I might have an answer for your question... maybe people who don't believe in God aren't 100% sure that there is really a God ..

It's not really a matter of choice, like deciding what socks to wear.
There is no reason to believe in god that makes any sense to me.
Thus, I, in fact, don't believe.
There's no way to change this (not that I want to, I don't); I believe what I believe, and don't believe in things I don't believe in.
I have no desire to believe in non-existent beings.

I don't choose not to believe in God. I was born that way and so were you.
An honest person does not choose what to believe, either you do or you don't. Simple.

Just in response to some of the answers - why would someone want to believe in something that gives them no hope? Why put your faith in that when you can put your faith in something so positive and good?
Also - i understand that the bible contradicts itself - but true christianity (i believe) has not much to do with that book but all to do with whats in your heart.
