Rental car agency is Enterprise. What if they do the walk around with you and all is well, no damage...then upon washing or something, they find a door ding or scrape or something small, can they call you at a later time about it? Potentially, it could have happened after the car was out of your hands, if it wasn't noticed during the "walk around," right? Or no?

In a previous question you stated that you knew that someone damaged the rental car while it was in your possession, and the "lot" attendant missed it on return inspection.

If you are an honorable person you will admit liability and pay for the damage, since you also stated that your own car insurance did not cover rental cars. Yes, they can still come after you. What will eventually happen if you do not respond to their demand for payment in a timely manner is that they will simply charge the damages to your credit card.

IF that happens, and IF you still have a copy of your rental contract, and IF you want to be a dishonest person, you could file a small claims action for reimbursement of the damage charges. (but I know you're not a dishonest person, are you)?

If they did the walk around with you and okayed it, I would say you don't owe them a thing, but it might not hurt to talk to an attorney who specializes in it. Unless it's such a small amount, it's not worth quarreling about.
