When I've cooked my porridge (with a tiny pinch of salt in it!!) I crumble dark brown sugar on top, a spoonful of thick whipped cream and cool milk.
Oh, so sweet and yummy.

we have just started having porridge everyday. I never use to like it but thought my daughter would. So i made it and it was great. So I started having it as well. I found out my mum made it with water but I make it with milk. We tend to use honey most of the time but maple syrup is good as well. If you like sultanas they would go well too. Probably golden syrup too.

My 12 year old puts Maple Syrup on her porridge.

I like to add:
nuts
cinnamon-sugar mix
canned peaches
canned fruit salad in natural juice
thickened cream (poured not whipped)
double cream (King Island brand from Tasmania)
dried apple
dried apricots
maple syrup
golden syrup
sultanas

A tiny pinch of salt while cooking. It just tastes nasty without this.
Sliced strawberries macerated with sugar are really good on oatmeal.

The best ingredient you can add to any homemade recipe is
LOVE!!! and good news it's free!
Fresh fruits are also nice! maybe try brown sugar: No one frowns when it's brown!
