I don't often ask questions, in fact, I've never asked a question. But I need help! On February 3, I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre. I've had it since then, and been in a wheel-chair and using a walker. I was really lucky, and didn't have to go on a ventilator at any time. I'm out of hospital now, but am still doing physical therapy, aquatic therapy, etc. I need help, sympathy, anything!

My grandfather had Guillain-Barre several years ago, and was in much the same situation as you -- wheelchairs, walkers, and extensive physical therapy.

Keep your chin up! My grandfather is now fully capable of walking and carrying on a normal level of activity, so if you stick with the therapy you should do fine!

Gullain Barre Syndrome is a rare disorder in which the immune system attacks and destroys the nerves that lie outside the Central Nervous System (the brain and spinal cord),leading to weakness and sometimes life threatening paralyses.Men and Women, young and old,are equally prone to contract it.It is a complicated disease, poorly understood, difficult to diagnose, and with very few treatment options. In addition, there are a lot of weird ways that people spell it.In about half the cases, the onset of the syndrome follows a viral or bacterial infection,If you want to know more about it go to =http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/ or http://www.braintalk.org,.........Liz.
