I hv a question about Christian faith. How to trust in Jesus Christ. How to trust that he is God, came down to the earth, died for our sins, and rose again in three days.I really want to try my best to trust in Him so I won't go to hell in the future.Sometimes,I think that it is very very difficult for human to trust in God because we hv never seen, smell, touched, and tasted Him be4.I am kinda a double minded person, one side of my brain says that I want to try,and the other side is strugglin g about is Jesus really a God,sth like that. Is it satan work on me?Do I not hv any spiritual roots in my heart?Or it is just human natural being?
Does anyone feel like speaking to the air when they pray? What is that?

Believing in God is all about having faith. It takes faith to believe in something that you can't see.

I look out at the stars and I think about how incredibly intricate everything really is. The universe somehow magically fits together like a well tuned machine, life formed from a series of incredible geological events and just can't help but know that God was behind it all. All things must have a source right, why would it be so hard to think that the ultimate source was God?

Understanding that God exists, is it so unbelievable that there is no way we, imperfect and sinning creatures that we are, needed someone to intervene so that the gap between ourselves and God would be bridged? Jesus was that bridge given to us not because we deserved it, but because God loves us so much He is willing to sacrifice because He is a just God.

Good question. Have you ever heard of the phrase, "Doubting Thomas"? It comes from a Bible story where a man named Thomas didn't believe that Jesus had come back. He would only believe if he could put his fingers in his cross wounds and put his hands in his side. If you're having trouble believing in Christ, then just think of it this way: There is plenty of scientifical knowledge to back it up, if you're that sort of person. There have been many incidents where there has been a statue of Jesus and Mary and a Bible on a table, and a huge hurricane hit, and the table stood unharmed, along with the statues and Bible. Jesus performed miracles, only the kind that could have happened with God's help. He is God, and faith is what you need. Faith has to be built, you can only find it within yourself. You know there is somebody greater out there, somebody who created everything. God is your answer, and Jesus is the closest human form.

About Jesus and God. Not all Christians believe that he is God. Read Colossians chapter 1 and John 1 for clarification on this point.

Psalms 1:1-3 says to read the Bible every day. I personally recommend just reading bulk rather than looking for one meaningful point here or there. Just read it straight for the feel of it. There's also www.blueletterbible.com for looking at the original language in Hebrew and Greek so as to compare different words.

As for hell, the Bible does definitely say not to foretell the future. Also we're not supposed to be pursuing our imaginations. (Isaiah 65:2) There's also a caution against endlessly narrating what things you would be able to see in Colossians 2:18 (try KJV, rather than NIV, which says that it's talking a lot about what you have seen, rather than what you haven't - either way it's not the same as applying Biblical metaphor to yourself as in Ephesians 6).

Satan works on everybody all the time. In fact, all the work that we put into cities built on crime is just fuel for the fire. (Habakkuk 2:12, 13) God has promised pasture to us as well recognition for the justice of our personal causes if we are righteous. (Psalms 37:3-6) We can be righteous if we follow Psalms 15.

One thing about spiritual roots in your heart is that they won't take hold if you are homosexual. (Romans 1:31)

You can always pray for more wisdom. (James 1:5) You'll have to keep on doing this. (James 4:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

You are very normal this is a part of doubt being placed into your thought life by Satan he will tire out he doesn't last long at a winning battle

Trust is just believing and waiting for things to come into being

Have patience and keep on trusting and believing

It will soon come to pass

Jesus is God's Son and the Holy Spirit is the comfortor

All three are one and they are God

When you pray make sure that you are comfortable. You don't need to go on your knees or take a 'holy attitude'. Just sit wherever and however you are comfortable, close your eyes and imagine that Jesus is sitting opposite you and just talk to Him. You don't need to use repetitive prayers. Talk to Him as you would to any friend and let Him know all your hopes and fears. Read His word and get to know what He wants of you and ask Him for His Holy Spirit to help you understand and know Him and to show you the things in your life that He would like you to change. Of course you have spiritual roots in your heart or you wouldn't even be thinking about Him.

You alone have no power to trust in Jesus Christ. You are right that without faith in Jesus Christ you are condemned to hell eternally. You are right that unbelief is the the nature of every human. You are struggling against this nature. You are not alone. In addition to Lee Stoebel, Josh McDowell, C.S. Lewis, Martin Luther all struggled as adults with the similar questions--even Jesus' disciple Thomas doubted. Josh McDowell wrote a book titled 'Evidence That Demands a Verdict', that may be helpful to you.

However, God comes to us through His means of grace: His Word (The Bible) & His Sacraments (Baptism & Communion). It sounds like the Holy Spirit has already been working through His Word to bring you to repentance & calling you to study His Word & receive Baptism. Jesus promised the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at Baptism. If you want clear, simple & honest (biblical) teachings of the Christian faith, I suggest seeking out an LCMS Lutheran pastor who could teach you this from Luther's Small Catechism. After learning this doctrine & agreeing to it, you will be given a chance to receive Baptism. There the Holy Spirit will be given to actually indwell you & will give you the sure trust & faith that you want.

If you want to know more about the beliefs & practices of the LCMS before you seek out a pastor you can go to www.lcms.org. What I love about the doctrine & confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church is that they give you objective assurance of salvation & they don't require you to turn off your brain.

I like having my faith rooted in knowledge, there are many people that have struggled with the same questions you have. Try reading The Case for Christ I think the authors last name is Lee Strobbel, its an easy read and it could start sending you in the direction you are looking for. Also faith is not just about avoiding hell hopefully you will begin to see this as you continue your quest. Don't fret too much it isn't a battle that is won over night.

I went through the same thing. What your talking about is contrition.
Contrition is respecting God for fear of Hell
Attrition is respecting God because you Love Him
But what is Faith? U beleive in atoms right? Even though u cant see them? Same thing. Its your choice to believe in god. Its not satan, its just your breaking out to wonder, and it can be a good thing. It means you have a mind. Id talk with a parent or a pastor.

We have all had some doubt at one time, especially as a new Christian. It takes trusting, which is faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God. Read the Bible out loud to yourself, or get some tapes. Study too. Your faith will develop.
