It kind of does sound like one. I know religion is a form of mental illness.

What's contagious is a hot temper.
Proverbs 19:19 -
The hot-tempered must pay the penalty; rescue them, and you will have to do it again.
Proverbs 22:24, 25 -
Do not make friends with the hot-tempered, do not associate with those who are easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
In contrast, Christians are supposed to abstain from a hot temper.
Galatians 5:22, 23 -
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
There's one reason why Jesus got angry in particular - money changing in the temple.
Matthew 21:12, 13 -
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it 'a den of robbers.'"
