find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.

You will make yourself nuts with diets. Try weight training. Fat burns off even at rest when you weight train. Atkins will work but it is a lifestyle not a diet. You can only keep the wieght off if you stay on atkins.
Try this next time you go to the gym.
if you are new to wieghts then just use the olympic bar with no wieght on it. 2-4 times a week.
5 minutes warm up
5 sets 0f 25 squats
5 sets 25 beanch press
5 sets 25 deadlifts
and the same with shoulder press
if your still standing do cardio for a 1/2 an hour. Good Luck!
BTW there are 1000 books at your local library about atkins get one read it understand it then if it is for you do it.

Portion control, which is really just calorie counting. As a society, we've gotten used to huge restaurant and fast food portions. And that's another tip--avoid eating out. Also, exercise is more helpful than diet. Do something! Walk if nothing else. Besides the calories the activitiy uses, it raises your metabolism. Losing, and especially keeping weight off, is a lifestyle thing.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Well, I would definitely say- Watch both. But I would focus more on calories. I mean- fruit and whole grain bread--- The are great aids in weight loss even though they have a lare amount of carbs in them.

make a diet plan based on www.mypyramid.gov if you are unhealthy weight it will tell you how many calories you need to loose weight. atkins is very unhealthy. Crabohydrates are the only nutrient that your brain uses to function so not having them is a bad idea. I would say though to limit your carbs to whole grains and fruits and veggies. But defiently check out that site your personalized food pyramid will be of great help, print it out and hang it on the fridge or your door with a picture of you big and small so you make smart choices throughout the day!
good luck!

If you stick to the general rule when losing weight you will never fail:
Never eat anything that is white except fish and vegetables. White foods are potatos, rice, pasta, bread (all breads are made with flour), so if it has white ingredients in it or is white in appearance, avoid it!!
That will leave out most of your carbs anyways and will leave out most calories. This rule of thumb has never failed me and I stick to it pretty much in everyday life and have never gained back the weight. Besides not eating a ton of chocolate, that is! Hoorah for you for taking control again!!

First off, the Atkins' is a lifetime thing. You can't go on and off it whenever you please.
Second, there is no one thing that is best when losing weight. A comprehensive approach is best. Count calories, carbs, fats, etc etc. Also exercise is very important as well. You can't do one without the other.

You went on an unhealthy fad diet and your weight CAME BACK? Who knew?
Atkins will destroy your liver, so stop doing it. Quit eating crap, keep up your exercise, and you will lose weight.
Try eating more veggies and organic foods, and avoid anything with the word "hydrogenated" in the ingredient list. Yes, this means you'll have to flip that box of Twinkies over and READ, but if you want to lose weight bad enough I think you'll manage.
