Were it so simple.
If Christians and other people "of faith" lived a secular life, I don't think there would be a problem. If their personal god was kept their personal god, who could possibly criticize?
The unfortunate reality is that we STILL have things like:
- governments wasting time debating the definition of marriage because apparantly homosexuality is a sin.
- an American Senator who says he doesn't care about the environment because good Christians like him will be raptured long before global warming will become a serious problem.
- a Canadian Jehovah's Witness couple who gave birth to sextuplets and refused the proper medical treatment for the babies on the grounds that blood transfusions were against the parents' religion. Two of the babies died.
- "faith-based initiatives."
- a poll done in the US that said Americans would rather elect an ex-con or a pedophile over an atheist.
- creationism taught in science class.
When people put more faith in bronze-age mythology than modern science, we have a real, serious problem on our hands.

Parents have forgot to do a lot of things and that's just 1 of many parents are not teaching at home. The other items parents have forgot to teach their children are morals & ethics. Parents are just taking this for granted and expect the school system to do everything!
It is just terrible, especially if you ever listen to kids and their parents in Dept. stores, restaurants etc... The way kids talk back, act up and just don't plain listen. Society blames life of today, both parents working, no time, run here, run there!
I say it is just plain laziness on the parents.

Man,**** yourself.
People respect each other, it is a fact.
People respect the different religions,it is a fact.
Only a few idiots make such stupid statements as there is only one true religion and so on,and I don't care if the pope says so,I believe that people are free to choose for themselves if they should believe in one god or another,as long as he teaches them how to be nice to each other.

I accept and love other points of view. I do not accept shallow, biased, parroted lazy views pushed by most religious fanatics. I do not respect ignorance, unfortunately this place is filled with ignorance.

Oh, sure. Lay it on the mothers, when so many fathers aren't even there to teach their children anything at all. The faiths and views of other people are not automatically entitled to any kind of respect, as this forum beautifully illustrates.

I'm fine with whatever people want to believe as long as they keep it out of our schools, laws and government.

I was fairly respectful when I first came to this forum.
Then I was reminded what Christians are really like and that began to dissipate.
I may not agree with the Pagans, but it's never an issue. I may not agree with the Deists or Agnostics, but our differences are minimal.
Christians, however..............now I remember why I was happy to leave the faith.
Not all of them of course. Several of them on here are decent and even fun, and many have good questions and answers.

I'm not an atheist but I can tell you that true respect has to be earned. You need to give first to receive.
