I like to cook, he doesn't. I'm better at it. What's the big deal?

You obviously have a problem with submission of the house hold. And no, it's not always like that. But yes, it is customary for the woman to cook. Why? As children growing up we all saw that the work outside the house was a mans job. Cutting the yard, taking out the trash, working on the house or vehicle. And work inside the house was also hard work but with a female touch. Trust me. Its much easier for a woman to see how to cook or clean a house than it is to figure out where the hell is the damn pcv valve on the motor. At the same time guys are like "what the hell is cilantro"
But when it comes down to it, women cook for men out of an act of love.

I believe that couples should shoulder the burden equally. Let's face it... Lots of us don't like to cook- and I am definetly one of those people. It can be messy and time consuming. There is no reason why the woman should have to cook all the time; men are just as capable. I don't think that I could ever be with a man that demanded that I be 'head chef' at home. This isn't the 50's you know.

Not all women cook for there man, Mine cooks for me alot. It just something nice to do for him every now and then. Some do it because he works hard or they get home first others feel its there respoiblitly as a women to cook for the man of the house.

Why is this under weddings?

Some men have been unfortunately taught from childhood that kitchen duties are totally women's work.
I've said to my boyfriend: So, what are you fixing us for dinner, tonight? Or... After you make dinner, I'll wash the dishes for you.
A lot of guys are terrific cooks, but it doesn't always come up in conversation. (Just think of all the famous chefs out there).

Some Moms never taught their sons to cook. Some guys don't even think they could follow a recipe. They don't know the difference between "fry" and "saute". Have no idea of what a clove of garlic is, etc.

To make it worse, they don't see the need to learn, either.

Lucky for me, my husband was a cook when I met him. He does most of the cooking in our house. He even goes to another guy's house and cooks for him sometimes when the other guy's wife is out of town.

We are LAZY! Seriously.. We are. =)
Also, my wife just made a very good point. We, as men, enjoy female food. Simply for the fact that, it ain't ours or we just can't cook to feed ourselves. I on the other hand, I can cook, but I like eating her food. Plus, the criticism is good and usually ends well for both of us.

My fiance is a fine dining chef, so believe me he cooks, and when he does it's like art on a plate (move over Gordon Ramsey) but then there are times when he just cannot face cooking anything, so then i take pleasure in cooking for him. In our house it's give and take, we share everything, but he cooks a lot more than me!!

mostly because you buy the food with money we earned .live in a house we paid for wear clothes we paid for look its your choice dont cook get a job and join in society or stay at home and take care of it. now I am not sexist but if you already have a job and stuff then you could cook to treat your man and he should do likewise SHARE the chores or split up.

It's not like that for every one. My husband cooks for himself and for me too at times. He loves to cook. So do I. Some times we share the kitchen and cook together and sometimes he will cook me up a surprise, and I do the same for him.

I've been married for 3 years now and I ask myself that same question. So first of all ask yourself can yo man cook? Cause if he can't and you love him then of course you should cook for him. Secondly, do you work or is he the main source of income, cause if he is then yeah you should cook for him. The bible says that men work and earn the money and women run the household. But now you got those independent sisters out there who can take care of themselves and feel that men should do the same. So it all depends on your situation. But thanks to Destiny Child's dudes think that we "should" cook for them and wash their dirty drawls too! But I give props to dudes that cater to their women cause when we bring home the bacon ain't nothing wrong with y'all "cookin it."
